The NIMBY crowd has done more harm collectively than most people realize. My town adopted 2 acre zoning for single family homes (which means we don’t create subdivisions), banned duplexes for a time (then allowed them if you can meet some ridiculous criteria, so still effectively banned), banned ADU (Accessory Dwelling Units aka in-law apartments, granny flats, etc.), hasn’t allowed a multi-family project in decades and has created numerous other by-laws that make additions and rehabs more difficult and expensive. NIMBY’s drove the bus on all of the above. Then they whine when their kids grow up and move away to a place more affordable. Selfish a-holes never realize they contributed to it.
