Like every other multinational company, all FB cares about is making an obscene amount of money. That it comes through the suffering of others or the destruction of our way of life doesn’t matter. Their quarterly shares matter more than whether our country continues as a democracy or whether young girls commit suicide.

Why is this a surprise in our “free-market” capitalism?

No corporation has anything resembling a conscience, empathy, ethics or any of the things that make us really human (as opposed to the stupid SCOTUS ruling that makes them legally human). Of course FaceBrick cares more about quarterly profits than anything else except its continued existence.

“More than 90% of monthly Facebook users are . . . outside the U.S. and Canada”

Fact-checking is, shall we say, more advanced in english, but quite less so in other languages. While viewers/readers in english can utilize FactCheck.org or SNOPES, misinformation is running rampant. English fact-checking can diss stupidities like taking horse dewormer, or gargling bleach, et cetera to prevent COVID-19 infection. But there is far fewer fact-checking in other languages.

That’s why Latino, Vietnamese, etc. “news” on social media is dangerous. Why? Because in homes of members of an other-than-english family – are subjected to even greater amounts of misinformation WITHOUT fact-checking. Why is that important? ’Cause some of these homes contain US & Canadian VOTERS.

An American corporation putting profits ahead of the public good? I’m shocked, I tell ya, shocked! What happened to the good ole days when tobacco companies and oil companies were solely working for the good of American citizens? /s

The day the story hit the news on Wall Street it was reported “Zuck” lost Six Billion Dollars. Brought a tear to my eye . . . remembering one of the mutual funds in my 401k had Facebook and I had just been zucked.
