Back in 2011, I liked to joke that the Big 10 had 12 teams and the Big 12 had 10 teams… ☺

as a Buckeyes fan I cant understand why we’re called the Big Ten when we have more than 10 teams

The Big XII has ten. Until 2025, when they’ll 12, unless Oklahoma and Texas move to the SEC.
