Nudge Theory, posited by behavioral economist Richard Thaler and legal scholar Cass Sunstein, of the University of Chicago:

is essentially the obverse of the algorithms that Farcebook uses to profit from fanning the flames of misinformation, hatred and institutional mistrust.

The question now is wether we will be able to develop open systems of behavior modification along the lines of Nudge Theory in time to save our democracy and the planet..

Maria Ressa just won half of the Nobel peace prize for her work on open journalism. She has pointed out the failings of Facebook with respect to responsibility for disseminating false information. Well done and well deserved, Maria!!

Funny coincidence. Just bought a book for my granddaughter, “Who’s Afraid of Godzilla?” It’s much more fun to read than the average FB drivel.
