I suggest that only one group has EVER believed that the Taliban had changed their stripes: The members of the Taliban. Though there’s another group that says that another group believes it. They’re wrong too.
Thanks to Trump acknowledging them and offering them a gateway to taking over Afghanistan. It helped Trump authorized the release of 5000 Taliban fighters to support their takeover.
Afghanistan? Taliban? Surender? I thought all that stuff was over, let’s think about the Budget that what’s important now. Don’t dwell on the past. There an election coming up. Let’s all start pulling together.
Nothing worse than getting your head hacked off with a dull sword. The very professional and business-like taliban only use freshly sharpened swords to lop of the heads of their enemies, which is pretty much anyone that isn’t them.
Afghanistan’s people is and will be going through a real bad time now without the support of the US and its allies. I really feel for the Afghan people as the Taliban doesn’t seem to be following the nice words of their leaders. The nice words may be a smoke screen to cover up their real agenda of narrow Islamic law as they once did. The government still needs acceptance from other countries more than just Pakistan, if it is to be able to govern and provide for their people.
There is no such thing as a “kinder and gentler” Taliban. I wish there was a way we could wipe all of them off the face of the earth without hurting any innocent people. I normally don’t think in violent terms like this, but the Taliban are just way beyond the pale.
The Taliban? The group Trump negotiated the Afghanistan pullout with—without the Afghan government at the table? The group already known to be brutal—especially to women? The group that helped bin Ladn, and who Trump wanted to invite to Camp David for negotiations—during the anniversary of 9/11, no less?
