Hey Secretary of DoD….Just let us know that you have identified and removed the top guy in charge of those operations. Then go after the intelligence people to clean up their incompetence.

Certainly no decent way to spin this, except to once again blame “the fog of war.”

The difference is, Biden has not covered this up. Whereas, under Trump, far more civilians died in drone strikes. Only during Trump’s presidency, such things were quickly swept under the rug, and the media seems to have been happy to help with the sweeping.

Drones have been doing this a long time. Tribal leaders even called in strikes on their rivals who were also on the coalition side. It’s unrestrained and not enough intelligence (of any kind) that causes this. Not quite as bad as spreading land mines and cluster bombs like Johnny Apple seed but getting there.

They and the thousands of other civilians never would have been killed, if we would have never invaded that backassward country. Our own soldiers and civilians would be alive also.

In the 20 years that worthless war went on, how many political cartoons did you see pointing out civilian deaths. I feel sorry for the people killed, but the fake outrage is getting old.

Somehow I can’t turn people into statistics. Each one of these is a person who felt pain, and who left behind family who still feel pain. You can try to do calculations about how many more might have been killed if this or if that, and I won’t say I dismiss that kind of calculation entirely, but I also feel it’s heartless. As a species we need to do better.

The failed drone strike was a case of bad intel. And, one of the main problems with not having boots on the ground is going to be not being able to know for certain where the drones should strike. But, it has to be said that even when we did have the best intel, the aircraft launched attacks often had heavy noncombatant deaths, too.

It may well be that our war on terrorism may need to be reassessed thus leading us away from taking out the terrorist physically, to making its activity unnecessary. Maybe we can’t fight an idea with weaponry, but can with another idea.

After the Mother Emanuel AME attack, leaving nine dead, the church sought to forgive the attacker, not call for his immediate execution. They were praised for their rising above the situation where grief, anger and vengeance is is the norm in our society. But, surely, you say, we can’t apply one church’s benevolence to our national response to physical attack? We must retaliate. Must we? Must this always be so?

Drone strikes started under Bush, in seven years over 350 civilians killed and 168 were children. Where was the Republican outrage then.

Accidental civilian deaths by military action have occurred under every US administration. Only degenerate trolls celebrate it for their own political spin.

Clay Jones, being a lefty (whereas I am a “centery”) deserves plenty of credit for this toon. Can you imagine righty cartoonists being this fair-minded? And Traitor Trump no doubt would have nuked anybody (even Ivanka’s purse factories!) he could have, were it not for the fact that sane (not to say “saner”) heads prevailed.

It wasn’t like Biden personally fired the missile, the military went through 4 years of Trump and is loaded with incompetents. GW Bush started two wars with lies, stop voting for authoritarian capitalist covid spreading republicans because they do not value human life and killed over 400,000 Americans with lies and denial.

The Biden Administration oh so needed a win after the Airport bombing killed 13 Americans and 100’s of Civilians. They sure were proud of themselves talking about killing Isis-K bombers with secondary explosions confirming their bias. They didn’t come clean they got busted by the old gray lady first THEN came the truth. Biden’s minions are the Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight, god help anyone when they engage in “Regain Manhood” attacks. Shooting down a Airliner might be next. That Headwind Biden is facing is Gale Force right now, I hope it doesn’t turn into a Hurricane with his next debacle.

’This was a national security emergency’: Woodward says Trump’s post-election meltdown nearly led to ‘catastrophe’

Woodward, who has just published a new book called Peril with fellow Washington Post reporter Robert Costa, relayed the extraordinary lengths that national security officials went to keep Trump from potentially dragging the United States into a war in a desperate bid to keep power.

“Here we have the Speaker of the House and the senior military leader, General Milley, concluding that they believe he’s crazy,” said Woodward. “The issue… is not some abstract problem. It’s do we have control of nuclear weapons? And if there’s a catastrophe that could befall the United States or the world, it would be the use of nuclear weapons.”

He then broke down how Milley worked to ensure Trump could not unilaterally launch a nuclear war against China as part of a last-ditch effort to remain president.

‘It’s all in writing’: Nicole Wallace breaks down damning new Trump campaign memo

“Breaking news this afternoon from The New York Times that could represent a serious threat to Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign and potentially even to the former president himself. Their claims about election fraud were a lie — and Trump’s campaign reportedly new it,” Wallace reported.

Trump’s campaign reportedly knew that Dominion did not use Smartmatic, and also knew that Dominion did not have ties to Venezuela or George Soros.

“That’s about as clear and unequivocal as it can get,” Wallace said. “That members of the Trump campaign knew there was no evidence to support the conspiracy theories Trump and his allies were very publicly spouting — and it’s all in writing.”

Mitch McConnell shrugs off Trump’s call to depose him: ‘I don’t have any reaction to that’

At a Senate Republican press conference, McConnell was asked about a Wall Street Journal report that said “Trump has spoken recently with senators and allies about trying to depose Mr. McConnell and whether any Republicans are interested in mounting a challenge.”

“I don’t have a reaction to that,” McConnell said before ending the press conference and walking away.

I think Milley was probably bending the rules, but I also think he was behaving according to his oath to protect the nation against enemies both foreign AND domestic.

As for the mistaken drone strike, I’m very sad it happened. And I think we owe the survivors and relatives big time. AND a massive apology AND someone should get a black mark on their record, though it’s not clear to me who… And I’m glad we’re not still in a position to cause even more harm in that region.
