Who’s the biggest killer? Is it the guy who pulls the trigger, or the guy who starts a factory to manufacture assault weapons and sells them to anybody at all? The same reasoning, seems to me, applies to those who deliberately lie about the cause or cure of a pandemic. Those deliberate lies are not simple “misinformation”, they’re DISinformation. Though the ones who then cuttypaste such lies might better be thought of as (loudly) misinformed.

If people got vaccinated, they wouldn’t get deathly ill and they wouldn’t need Regeneron. Wonder why DeSantis isn’t pushing vaccinations? …or masks? His biggest donor has 16 million shares of stock in the company… but he is pushing Regeneron. He has set up five state-supported monoclonal antibody treatment sites, each dose costs the taxpayer $2,100…. the patients are offered it free of charge and you can get it without a physician’s referral. Get infected Florida, DeSantis has the cure….

As the death toll continues to mount (we have now surpassed the 1918 flu epidemic) they will blame Cool Joe’s administration.

S.O.P….create the problem, intensify it by blocking preventative measures and then convince their sheeple that it was the fault of their perceived enemies.

Thanks to Trump and the Republican party, COVID-19 is now the deadliest pandemic in U.S. history

A substantial percentage of those deaths were due to the gross mishandling of the pandemic by former U.S. president, Donald Trump, members of his administration, and various elected Republicans at the state and federal level who internalized, adopted and promoted his policies. According to Reuters, a series of studies released by the Brookings Institution at a time when the death toll was 540,000 in this country estimated that deaths due to Trump and his GOP allies’ botched response numbered as many as 400,000. A Lancet study released earlier had indicated 40% of COVID deaths in the U.S. could have been avoided, assuming that U.S. death rates corresponded to those in other G7 countries.

A string of research papers released this week at a Brookings Institution conference say that the U.S. could have saved billions of dollars and nearly 400,000 lives if it had responded more effectively to COVID-19 with a coherent strategy in the first few months of the pandemic, Reuters reports. UCLA economics professor Andrew Atkeson concluded that if the U.S. had mandated mask-wearing and social distancing and established testing protocols by the end of last May, the country’s COVID-19 deaths could have remained under 300,000. So far, more than 540,000 Americans have died on account of the virus, and Atkeson estimated that the total death toll will ultimately be close to 670,000. He added that without a vaccine that number would be close to 1.27 million.

Conservatives are killing themselves with COVID, and no, it’s not our fault

You know how conservatives claim to be “the party of personal responsibility”? Obviously, it’s a crock. But at the very least, it’s fun to see the extremes they go to in refusing responsibility for their own actions.

As you are likely aware, conservatives are killing themselves off in frightening numbers by refusing to vaccinate and take the COVID vaccine seriously. I have a whole series on the topic. And it’s not just anecdotal. The evidence is clear.

In short, the redder the county, the higher the death toll. At this point, it’s intuitive and common sense—the people who refuse to accept the pandemic reality are the same people doing the dying. Now imagine places like Florida, suffering around 2,500 dead per week, and how that might impact the state’s historically tight elections? The official margin in the 2000 presidential election was 537 votes, statewide. In the 2018 governor’s race, Gov. Ron DeSantis, merchant of death, won by just 32,463 votes. In that same year’s Senate race, Sen. Rick Scott won by just 10,033.

Republicans are literally murdering their margin of victory.

Delta: What If We’d had Leadership as Good as New Zealand instead of Donald Trump and Republicans

To deal with Covid-19, President Trump and Republicans did their best to implement a strategy of “open everything up and mock those who wear masks”. Even as President Biden has tried to get the virus under control by getting everyone vaccinated and encouraging masking and distancing, Republicans have continued to insist on opening everything up and mocking those who try to do anything useful.

New Zealand took the exact opposite strategy and used a “go hard, go early” approach that meant shutting everything down immediately (all non-essential businesses and travel) and then tracing everyone who had contact with anyone who was sick and isolating them for two weeks. This strategy has worked despite the virulence of the Delta variant and despite New Zealand not yet being able to secure very many vaccine doses.

Hitler and the Nazis had some very Republican ideas about vaccine mandates

By the 1930s, when the Nazis rose to power, it was at a time when an anti-vaccine movement (that began even before the 1874 law) had picked up steam—along with a touch of antisemitic conspiracy theory. What started as the “Lebensreform” (life reform) that believed all “chemicals” being “injected into the body” could be replaced by being healthier and getting more sun, among other things, became a real movement with hundreds of thousands of followers. You know, the I have an immune system response many people now suffering and/or dying from COVID-19 have been promoting on their social media pages for months? They were basically the same thing.

As Branko Marcetic writes in the Jacobin, while the Nazis didn’t do away with the compulsory vaccination laws, they continued an “elasticity” policy that made proving that one had a vaccine null, thus taking away any enforcement of the law. More importantly, this gave the Third Reich control over who they would promote good science and bad science around vaccines to. While the Nazis knew that a healthy society was an important thing to have when you are trying to keep the trains running on time, they were also super racist white supremacist antisemites who could easily be called psychopathic. Marcetic points to the book Hitler’s table Talk 1941-1944: Secret Conversations, where one of the most famous mass murderers in history has these moments of reflection about vaccination programs.

Same2younotmybuddy – The early information was put out because it was what was known at the time. As more was learned about the virus, the information was analyzed and interpreted and was adjusted to what was learned and now known. As the virus mutates, the information may once again change. It’s called critical thinking.

Which has a higher intelligence, a troll or a single cell ameba? Remember, an ameba has no brain. Ameba definition is – any of a large genus (Amoeba) of naked rhizopod protozoans with lobed and never anastomosing pseudopodia, without permanent organelles (thanks Google). Troll definition is a lowlife whose only purpose in life is intentionally instigate conflict, hostility, or arguments in an online social community.

New York pizzeria forces Trump-loving Brazilian president to eat outside after he refused to show proof of vaccination

Via The Daily Beast, Brazilian publication Correio Braziliense reported this week that Bolsonaro had to eat his pizza outdoors while he was in New York this week for a United Nations General Assembly.

The embattled Brazilian leader, who has seen his poll numbers collapse due to his handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic, has not been vaccinated against the deadly virus that so far has killed nearly 600,000 Brazilians.

Despite this, Bolsonaro apparently believes that defying New York’s pandemic restrictions will help him with his base of voters, as tourism minister Gilson Machado proudly put a photo of a defiant Bolsonaro eating pizza outdoors on his social media accounts.
