Because Trump and his unstable genius found “good people” in Nazis and saluted North Korean generals. And that’s only the crazy $hit we saw. I’m sure there was worse behind closed doors. Milley was right to do it. He served his country and should be proud.
Sure, AL, go after the guy protecting us from the crazy man with the nuclear codes. That’s how it works in your universe. Goodwyn’s Law™. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrVLZwwZF6g
Al, as to the call to China, get your facts straight. Trump’s acting Defense Secretary, Chris Miller, knew and approved of the call by General Milley before it was made and was briefed on the call after it was completed.
“The people also said that Milley did not go rogue in placing the call, as the book suggests. In fact, Milley asked permission from acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller before making the call, said one former senior defense official, who was in the room for the meeting. Milley also briefed the secretary’s office after the call, the former official said.”*
Al, trump was obviously mentally ill in 2016, so much so that the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, consulted Doctors on how to deal with him**. Since 2016, trump’s mental illness has continued unabated and gotten worse, i.e., calling Nazis “very fine people” or suggesting a person should drink Clorox. When the country should have removed that sick and pathetic menace, people in right-wing media like you have remained silent.
General Milley stayed at his post and acted in defense of the nation he swore to protect. He deserves recognition, not derision from people like you.
Gen. Miley was once most assuredly a credit to his country and his service. But as in many high ranking military officers the power evidently went to his head. I have no doubt that he is a hard core Democrat with great political expectations upon his retirement. I think his calls too his counterpart in China where nothing more than a political maneuver given that President Trumps reelection was in doubt. He wanted too remain in his present assignment well into the Biden presidency. Which he accomplished. But now as the truth is coming to light he is no longer an asset to the present administration or the military. And given his questionable actions he should be asked too resign forthwith.
Forced-to-retire Col. Vindman wrote an op-ed piece in today’s Washington Post, laying out his view that the general should have resigned in protest instead. He uses the example of Gen. Kelly resigning because he didn’t go along with the Dotard’s plans in Syria, and that the backlash this created caused the Dotard to back down. Hard to know which was the better path…
Mr. Goodwyn has little understanding about nuclear gamesmanship. The more an adversary armed with nuclear weapons fears a preemptive attack from you, the closer their fingers are to the launch button, and the greater the chance that they will fire first to prevent their own destruction.
Pretty sure it came about as Trump’s increasingly erratic and unstable behavior was making China nervous about a man who can’t figure out why we have nukes and don’t use them.
General Milley likely wanted to make sure China didn’t do a preemptive nuke strike of their own, by reassuring that not everyone in the USA had lost their mind.
