So is this playing on the old supernatural lore that a vampire cannot enter anywhere unless invited ?

Of course, that can be fudged in various ways… as in a victim not knowing they are speaking to a vampire when they invite them. Or the vampire having encountered the person outdoors and hypnotized them to always let him in.

Would a vampire show-up on a security camera ?

Maybe fly in for the meet and greet….
