My monster under the bed actually protected me. I sometimes miss him, or her, or whatever it was.
This could be a budding case of narcissism being reflecting back on him.

There are no closet monsters. Only under the bed monsters that grab you by the ankle.
And Pasquale slept completely through it. This would make a good comic strip.
When I was a kid, I handled the closet monster by closing the door (it couldn’t open it) and the under the bed monster by leaping into bed from as far away at possible.
I told my duaghter that I paid extra for the house to be “monster-proofed” so if there were monsters, I was going to ask for my money back!
