I don’t remember the last time the GQP had any national policy that did anything other than cut taxes for the rich and shaft the middle class and poor. Even their hero reagan tried to pay for his tax for the rich by taxing SS. As shown now it’s just fear mongering.
R’s don’t have platforms for governing other than tax cuts for the rich and corporations. They have grievances, and resentments, and hates, and crazy accusations, and social issues. I saw one on TV saying if you got vaccinated the next thing would be “They’d take away your Bible!” As if anyone wants someone else’s Bible. That must be some kind of fever-dream of religious people, that someone wants to steal their Bible. Or, maybe their guns. Yes, someone will be coming to take their guns. Or immigrants will take their place! Yes, immigrants will move into their neighborhood, and take their place!
You know, that is kind of like what happened to Native Americans when all those white people moved into the country. But, our country has absorbed millions of people from other countries and other cultures, and has turned out better for it. Look at the faces of teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, elected officials, doctors, inventors, innovators and friends, and see all those different people looking back at you. They have made a contribution to our country just like you have, and mostly for the better. We actually need more of them, because our work is not done.
The republican “sideshow” in California was interesting – for a minute. The Trump in Blackface" Elder wasn’t very amusing to start with, and he became laughable with his (hopefully not serious) contention that reparations should be paid to slave OWNERS.
Elder’s contention, even before election day that the election was “rigged” against him (again, without proof of any kind) was more tiresome than funny/
And the thought that republican “claims” of election “fraud” are going to become more, not less common as the years continue on.
America is going to become inured to cries of "Wolf, wolf! from republicans to the point that, in the distant future, if there REALLY IS an instance of voter fraud, nobody will recognize it when it happens!
It should be noted here, for the record, that the five to seven documented instances of “voter fraud” in the 2020 election were ALL committed by Trumpers trying to cast EXTRA ballots for Donnie John, and that NO INSTANCE of voter fraud attested to by Trumpers has EVER been successfully proven! EVER!
The failed California Recall reminds me of the scene from “The Longest Day,” when the Luftwaffe veteran is ordered to take himself and a tyro and attack the landings. He leads the flight into a strafing run over Gold and Juno beaches, then gives the order to head home. Cackling, he cries out, “The Luftwaffe has had its great moment!”
