Trump asked, “Why do we have nuclear weapons if we’re not going to use them.” Then he wanted to use one on a hurricane. They should have just given him some polonium tea.

Gen. Milley is an authentic hero. He recognized that the safeguards that prevent a mentally broken president—a Trump, a Nixon—from plunging us into nuclear war, had to be invoked.

Repubs are screaming about his comment that he’d warn his Chinese counterpart if such a strike was ordered. This needs to be taken in the context of the situation with a delusional president to reassure another nuclear power that any such future order to launch missles on them while the 45th president was still in office would not be obeyed.

I guess the GQP would be ok if Rump started a nuclear war with China if that meant he could stay in office, even though most of them think he’s still in office. Scary to think that this cult has been here all along and just needed to locate a lunatic madman like Rump to lead them.

From now on put the diaper over his head for that is the orifice from which most of the crap is dispensed…. and the American people sure know that for a pure t fact as it is aimed our way relentlessly. Perhaps doing the ransom of Red Chief, wherein we pay them, to design him a concrete suit to rid ourselves of Donald manure permanently.

Toward the end of Nixon’s administration, when he was roaming the White House late at night and talking to the presidential portraits (and they were answering him!), Kissinger made it clear that any order by Tricky Dick to attack any country was to be ignored until he was consulted. So there is precedent here. Of course, if Traitor Trump’s cabinet wasn’t full of his fellow crooks and (in some cases) his fellow traitors, the 25th amendment would’ve been invoked, oh, let’s say, in the spring of 2017? Intelligent people knew that Trump was unfit for office long before that, though.

From an editorial in The Kansas City Star: Missouri’s best-known insurrectionist, Sen. Josh Hawley, is still trying to accomplish what he could not pull off with his power-to-the-rioters raised fist on Jan 6.You’re not going to believe this, but in a Senate floor speech, he called on President Joe Biden to resign. It’s a difficult speech to watch, shamelessly exploiting as it does the deaths of U.S. servicemen and servicewomen for political gain. But despite its contradictions, hyperbole and misreading of history, we must watch, because Hawley’s threat to our republic is real and ongoing. The senator’s desire to overthrow the people’s choice for president has not abated.“This president is a disgrace,” Hawley intones. “He had dishonored this country with his shameful leadership in this crisis. And it is time for him to resign.” […] In the same speech, Hawley also promised to block White House civilian nominees for the Pentagon and State Department unless Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and national security adviser Jake Sullivan resign. Not over the kind of corruption that was endemic [note from Godfreydaniel: That should be “pandemic”, of course] in the last administration, of course, but because he says so.Nothing about this call for mass resignations is serious. Yet Missourians should never forget Hawley’s attempt to put his own ambition ahead of the security of the United States. And the House select committee investigating the insurrection at the Capitol should deeply investigate Hawley’s role in the events of that awful day. When our democracy itself was under attack, he stood with those attempting to bring it down.

I believe we can thank General Milley we’re not at war with Iran/China ♥ From what I’ve read, he simply reminded his staff that any Nuclear Options invoked by the Orange Lardfather (I stole this from Stephen Colbert) had to go thru him before being implemented. General Milley honors his oath to the Constitution.

Then-CIA director Gina Haspel said Trump’s post-election behavior was ‘insanity’ and he was ‘acting out like a 6-year-old with a tantrum,’ book says

“We are on the way to a right-wing coup. The whole thing is insanity,” Haspel told Gen. Mark Milley.

Haspel was particularly unnerved by Trump’s firing of Defense Sec. Mark Esper, the book says.

Then-Central Intelligence Agency director Gina Haspel vented to the US’ top general that former President Donald Trump was “acting out like a six-year-old with a tantrum” in the wake of the 2020 election, according to a new book.

In addition to refusing to concede the 2020 election to President Joe Biden and pushing groundless and outlandish claims of election fraud, Trump fired (or tried to fire) a number of top officials – most prominently including Secretary of Defense Mark Esper on November 9.

“Yesterday was appalling,” Haspel said in her November 10 conversation with Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s forthcoming book “Peril.”

“We are on the way to a right-wing coup. The whole thing is insanity. He is acting out like a six-year-old with a tantrum,” Haspel, a 35-year veteran of the agency, said, with the authors writing that she, too, was afraid of being canned.

Milley assured Haspel that “we’re going to be steady,” according to the book. “Steady as a rock. We’re going to keep our eye on the horizon. Keep alert to any risks, dangers. Keep the channels open.”

‘Worst I’ve seen in 20 years’: How the Epik hack reveals every secret the far-right tried to hide

A large-scale breach of the domain registrar and web hosting company Epik has exposed a massive trove of data, including the names of individuals behind some of the far-right’s most notorious websites.

The data, as first reported by independent journalist Steven Monacelli on Monday, was released as a torrent this week by the hacking collective Anonymous.

In a press release on the hack, dubbed Operation EPIK FAIL, Anonymous claimed that it was able to obtain “a decade’s worth" of information, including domain registrations and transfers, account credentials, and emails from an Epik employee.

“This dataset is all that’s needed to trace actual ownership and management of the fascist side of the internet that has eluded researchers, activists, and, well, just about everybody,” the release alleges.

A compressed version of the torrent was later released by the journalist collective DDoSecrets, which plans to upload and host the data for reporters and researchers.

Epik’s customers include social media sites such as Parler and Gab as well as far-right forums like TheDonald. A pro-life website that urged Texas residents to report women seeking abortions to the authorities in the wake of the state’s abortion ruling was also temporarily a customer of Epik.
