My Great Great Grandfather fought in the Civil War. He was at Gettysburg. His name is on a monument there that lists the Pennsylvanians that fought in the battle. I can’t imagine what he would have thought of R.E.Lee being considered a hero.

There was a time capsule under the statue when it was taken down. The article I saw just mentioned the old time capsule. Most of the article was about a new time capsule being put in to replace it under a new statue. Most of the items concerned the strife of our current issues. 100 years form now someone can see how messed up things are in 2021. There probably won’t be anyone around to find out.

The celebration of the treasonous traitors who fought on the side of the insurrection as the Confederacy deserve no memorial outside of a celebration of the end of the insurrection at Appomattox.

The Confederacy quit the U.S., attacked the U.S., made war on the U.S., invaded the U.S. and killed U.S. soldiers. Confederate statues, monuments, namesakes and memorabilia belong in a museum, as Jefferson Davis’ great, great-great grandson said, along with Hirohito, Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. All defeated enemies of the U.S.
