There’s no getting around it….believe me I know! Went through customs on an island and they laughed when they SMELLED my suitcase! SEA SHELLS….THAT SMELLED SO BAD. HE PASSED it on up….LOL
Back in the 80s while returning from vacation in New Hampshire I was in a long line up at the Canadian border. In my car I had six 60 ouncers of booze, you were only allowed two 40s at the time. I had them stashed under my seat, in the glove compartment and in my luggage in the trunk. As I waited I noticed that the customs agents were pulling over every second car and if they held true I would be pulled over. As I approached the booth the agent asked me If I had anything to declare to which I responded no. What the hell was I thinking. He told me to pull over and someone will come out to inspect my car. That’s it I’m screwed. When the agent came over to inspect my car he spotted a gym bag on the back seat and proceeded to open it. It was full of my worn underwear and socks. He gagged slightly, closed it back up and told me to move on.
Flying back from the US, my wife can be a real b…. at sometimes. We filled out some declaration cards and something else, landing papers from a passport scan. From the plane on “Why did you fill that out, what are you doing, you just have PEANUTS!!” “You are so stupid” Anyway we get to baggage and get you suit cases, dogs were sniffing things and security. So she throws out our papers and we go to leave, we need to surrender the papers at the security desk, they are in the garbage, we are now head for the room you don’t see on TV, dark, dogs and security with automatics, this is at Toronto. Fortunately, everything is copied and saved. She was told by an official “Don’t do that again”
Sister coming back to USA from going to school in Europe. She’d added up her purchases very carefully and filled out the form, coming in a few dollars over. Showed her form to a very grumpy looking agent who handed it back to her, telling her to add it up again. She got out of line and went over things a couple of times and couldn’t find any mistake. Finally she decided to come up with an amount a few dollars under the limit, handed it to the agent who nodded and let her through.
