The city where I am has a park around a lake, and they used to sell bird food. People liked to feed the waterfowl. But, they stopped doing that. They removed the dispensers and put up signs asking people to NOT feed the birds.

The signs say the birds are wild animals, and feeding them changes their behavior. It brings humans an birds into closer contact, increasing the risk of zoonotic disease, either from birds to humans, or humans to birds.

People bringing their own food, and offer the types of food humans like for snacks, such as bread, cheese puffs, chips. The birds like some and dislike some. But, even when they eat what they like, such as bread, they end up with health problems due to poor nutrition. One common and highly visible result of malnutrition is angle wing deformity.
