There is one difference, apparently: A lot of the Afghanis put their lives on the line for the American troops.

Hmmmm……Which ones are the ones that the GQP wants to keep out of the country and not grant refugee status to?

There must be millions of asylum seekers, we can’t take half of Earth’s population here. I’m sorry, but that solves nothing.

The guns used in Afghanistan were made in Russia to keep people from freedom. . . and the ones used in America were made in the good old U.S. of A . . ah, well, you know . . .it’s different here. We have the G.Q.P. to protect us from others quest for freedom ? . . . . /S

Easy, afghan fought with and save American lives, applied for special visas and have been vetted for 2 to 20 years… the others are mixed back from countries with American embassies and consulates were you can apply for asylum and emergency refuge or help, huge Catholic Church presence that can also help with this.. I’m all for welcoming every one that looks up at America and wants no only the freedom and opportunity she offers but to protect and defend them be part of it.I’m an immigrant and I’ve been stuck in red tape before over stupid matters. Fix immigration laws you’ll save live and enrich the USA .. oh but wait if the president is Republican you’ll probably vote against cause well dems need it as wedge issue (see 2000,2003,2005, 2007, 2008)

I doubt they’ll receive much of a welcome once they get past the Leaden Door. (The Golden Door was melted down and sold off as knicknacks in the 80s)

Oh wait, I know this one. NONE!

It is well beyond time for Congress to take up immigration reform. And health care. And infrastructure. And voting rights. And reproductive rights. And not necessarily in that order.

Let me help you out Steve.

The Afghans are refugees fleeing from TARGETED political or religious persecution that will likely result in them being executed.

The Latin American “refugees” are fleeing from the generalized corruption, crime and shitty economies in their countries. They are NOT individually attacked by their governments. They are not being executed for praying the wrong way. They are seeking ECONOMIC relief. For that they need to go to the Embassy and start the paperwork.

It is a huge difference IN US LAW. If you want to change the law, say so very clearly and work towards that goal.
