Never gets old every year. Put a news team on the street in a horizontal rainstorm with a reporter leaning over and tell us “it’s so windy I’m having trouble standing up”.
Think we would get it if you stayed inside and recorded the flying debris missiles going by the building?
The alternative-fact-dispersing Trumpists likely would quote the Sara Teasdale poem, “There Will Come Soft Rains,” and consider it as essentially expressing optimism. Instead, it was meant as a cry of despair to the aftermath of war.
The poem could now also apply to the increasing effects of climate change and the COVID pandemic and utterly useless warfare. Nature will return amid the trash of human devastation, but mankind (or “man-unkind”) might not. Adaptation can be stretched only so far.
Maybe that weatherman is being “held-up”. Let that kid in the Saints helmet wire up the news truck so they can go on the air live…
Al Roker says ‘screw you’ to those claiming he’s too old to report in storm. Al Roker says he’s not too old to cover severe weather.
The 67-year-old was trending on Twitter on Sunday as many asked why he was out in the middle of the Category 4 Hurricane Ida as it battered Louisiana.
Roker said later on MSNBC that he volunteered to cover the storm from New Orleans. “This is what I do,” said the meteorologist. “I’ve done this for 40 years.” – nbcnews.com

I remember several years ago watching a “news” segment about flooding somewhere. The reporter was sitting in a canoe in the middle of the street to demonstrate how bad it was. In the middle of the segment, two guys on foot crossed the street right in front of her:

That’s the moment I started watching the news with skepticism.
Why don’t you go to New Orleans and check out this theory in person Mike. People are suffering and you dismiss it as “fiction”. This comic is tone-deaf considering what is happening RIGHT NOW.
So Mike are you saying that it Wasn’t a Cat 4 hurricane? Are the Wildfires also fiction? Is the media lying when they say the 96% of Covid deaths are from the unvaccinated?
I suppose that Newtown was a Hoax, the Dems have a Child Sex slavery ring on Mars and the Wildfire were caused by a Space laser owned by the Rothschilds, and of course the Election was rigged by Democrats.
Mike, once your morons swallow the little lies can the big lies be far behind. ….and Mike’s morons own guns.
Yeah, the Lame Stream Media Weather Wonks. I don’t see why these guys and gals insist on standing out in the wind and rain with stuff flying through the air. Makes no sense to me.
It has long been the case that “if it bleeds, it leads” — even back before cable TV — in fact, even before TV at all. The main perpetrator (perp-atraitor?) of the stuff depicted here is the entertainment channel whose label is “Fox News” (it’s Fox, alright, but even their own lawyers have claimed that it’s not really news).
I get my news from three sources. BBC.com, Aljazeera.com and by looking up the antecedents of the stuff that shows up on my Facebook and GoComic feeds. Not those feeds themselves, but the result of using duckduckgo.com to look up the facts behind what they say. Oh, and some email newsletters from CNet.com, TheWeek.com, NewAtlas.com and a couple of others… which I sometimes just consume, sometimes treat like I treat Facebook. Note how often a TV show is mentioned in that list.
Enough of this BS, God gave everyone of you a brain with the expectation that you would use it. If you think any news on any politicized topic is objective, I have a bridge I’m willing to sell you on the cheap. Get you info from multiple sources with a variety of points of view. Jumping from CNN to MSNBC is not a variety of points of view any more than switching from FOXNEWS to OANN is a variety of points of view. If more of us looked at FOX/OAN and CNN/MSNBC we might actually better understand one another and actually have a conversation about key issues.
I have noted how common it is for commenters to follow cartoonists with whom they disagree apparently for the sole purpose of expressing that disagreement. Let’s face facts: how many times a day do you really need check the cartoon(s) of that day? The comment section, when available, exists not to stimulate discussion, but to keep us coming back to the page to check how the trolls and idiots have responded to our brilliant statements. We bite on click bait; we keep stoking our own anger.
I did see a video very much like that recently. Also one last year perhaps with another hurricane. But the one I saw recently had the reporter swaying back and forth in front of the camera and holding on to his rain hat — while beyond him, two guys were strolling along completely unaffected by the “howling wind”.

A lot of downed trees and damaged buildings from that “gentle rain”.

The weather bureau sends out storm warnings. People like Lester complain if there is no storm.

Seems a few readers are confused: the weather is just a metaphor. The cartoon is about news media not about the weather.

One of my favorites was the reporter in the canoe whining about the flooding…as 2 guys walked through the scene in water barely above their ankles.
At some point the MSM switched over to making the news instead of reporting it. And making it up when it serves their agenda.
