Many US Corporations are grateful that so many sacrificed so much so that their share price could escalate almost continually over 20 years. Many individuals and partnerships made small fortunes too.
One of those partnerships included a guy who was in my high school graduation class. The son of a carpenter with no athletic ability but he was in the top fifth of the class and seemed to put little effort into his studies. One of his goals was to be rich.
He met some guys while in the Navy and they kept contact. A couple of decades later they headed to Afghanistan to get into oil and mineral exploration. He had majored in geology and another science in college.
He saw the writing on the wall and packed up a couple of years ago. I don’t know his net worth exactly but judging by the way he now lives and where he lives he is worth at least eight figures.
