There’s a solution to that. Pay a wage that doesn’t require you to get assistance in order to afford working that job. People have decided they no longer want to work for slave wages with no benefits.

In those enlightened Red States that dropped the extra 300 unemployment, no large increase in people looking for jobs. So another fact that shows Varvel doesn’t care for facts.

One of the reasons for a reasonable (can’t call it generous) unemployment package was to encourage people to stay home. We are almost back to 1000 deaths per day, thanks almost entirely to those who refuse to vaxx and mask. We may have to enter another period of lock-down thanks to them.

Of course, if jobs would simply pay the modest amount people are receiving as unemployment, they’d be able to hire workers. Wherever a living wage has been practiced, it’s been found that the businesses thrive. Their employees are more capable and more motivated.

How unfortunate that a minimum wage increase will only cover the cost of inflation. In other words a $15 dollar minimum wage increase will be worth about the same as the current $7.25 minimum wage. But that is part of the current Biden voodoo economics.

Varvel misses the point of truth again. The National Unemployment Rate has fallen to a new low since March 2020. After adjustment, it is 5.4% for the year as of July. It continues to fall as employment opportunities increase. Also, nobody makes a lot of money on unemployment. Most people would rather have a decent paycheck.

Don’t worry Gary – when the Delta variant shuts down the economy because of all of you unvaccinated people, those jobs will all disappear. Then you can be hap, hap, happy again!

But that’s not a thing! If there is a suitable job opening, you’ll no longer get unemployment insurance, that’s how it works.

Good God, could I please stop hearing about “lazy millennials” already? NO ONE is being payed to sit at home. They are being paid in order to stick it out until they find a better job, that is suitable to their skills and talents.

I cannot wait for the Covid Relief(?) to end and see how many can handle having to go back to work. ( I have been an Essential Employee since day one.) It will be hilarious to see how they explain a 18 month hole in their resume’s.

Maybe if there were a liveable minimum wage with health benefits? Oh wait, can’t do that because it would impact the guys at the top. They’d have to buy smaller yachts, put up with a three year old corporate jet, and get by with only three or four houses. Just remember that $24 per hour today is only the original Federal Minimum Wage adjusted for inflation. And the rich get richer…
