The IPCC report suggests that if we start RIGHT NOW and DO EVERYTHING WE CAN, we can keep the temperatures from rising very much more than what we are now seeing. The longer we wait to start, or the less fully we engage with the effort, the worse it will become. This DOES assume that the Gulf Stream doesn’t collapse.

Wildfires and record drought across the western USA, wildfires in Greece and Turkey and now Algeria, huge fires and record heat in much of Siberia (?!) — and massive floods in Germany, Belgium and China. All in just two months. Climate scientists tried to warn us this might happen; their only mistake was to underestimate the speed and impact of what is happening. And world leaders and politicians still procrastinate and keep their fossil fuel industries burning up the planet. I shudder to think of the world my adult children (and any grandchildren, if at all possible) will inherit.

Emissions in the US and EU/UK are lower than in 1992, dropping from 49% of the worlds total to 25%. The rest of the world’s emissions tripled in that time so world wide emissions doubled. No matter what the US or EU/UK do, the impact is negligible until the BRICS emissions are limited as well.
