After discoverers, scientists and necessary mission personnel, then the soldiers. And finally the tourists. Of course discovering The Americas was not quite as expensive as going to space, after all it was powered by wind and tides.So you start with founders of companies that make the means to get there, if they want to go and can get away from work long enough. This is to show it is safe and doable even by people not necessarily in astronaut shape. So billionaires advertising to other billionaires and getting the rest of the population thinking about the possibility. Placing the desire to be among the first to experience the adventure so you can brag to your friends about how it was out of this world and they really need to try it.

Got to make money off this thing somehow.

I say launch them all into space and don’t let them come back until they pay their fair share of taxes.

In this era of global warming, why are we allowing these thrill rides that create a massive amount of pollution?

For those interested, you can see Jupiter shining in great brilliance in the SE-S sky starting about 1/2 hour after sunset with the naked eye. Use a pair of 10X binocs and you can see at least 2 of the Gallilean moons to the left and Saturn to the right and down about 15 degrees. Use binocs a bit more powerful and you’ll be able to see the other 2 Gallilean moons to the right.

My father worked 3rd shift boiler room many years ago. He knew the orbits of all the satellites at the time and would watch them.

These “space tourists” are creating thousands of high tech jobs and supporting high tech manufacturing in the US. They started companies to compete for NASA and private contracts to take people to the space station and launch satellites. The space tourism is mostly just a PR stunt.Their willingness to ride early versions of their craft means that they are either very confident or not very smart.

I’m not so sure about going to space. I mean really, what’s the in flight snack? Smoking? Booze? Sex? Pretty much anything I would want to do is prohibited. Weightlessness? Phooey, a good wet suit and a scuba tank and I’m all the weightless I want. Then up to the beach for fun.

Well, isn’t this exciting?

For less than ten grand you can float around for much longer than 30 sec. on a zero gravity airplane flight.

To all… thanks for being anti-science. Oh, you might act like you care. In reality, no. After World War One, most aircraft production in the 1920s was for private people. The rich and mail routes provided incentives and payments for the aircraft producers. But all the anti-space people on this page are anti-science at heart. The ironic thing is the space program helped invent the internet and computer system you use now.
