    As long as congresspeople can get away with not doing their jobs — unlike the rest of us who would be dismissed for not doing our assigned tasks — and instead indulge themselves and their political parties … good government, and We The People will suffer.

    There is no mention of the filibuster in the constitution or as an original Senate rule. The problem with endless debate became an issue in 1840-1917.

    “First, historical lore says that the filibuster was part of the original design of the Senate. Not true. When we scour early Senate history, we discover that the filibuster was created by mistake.”
