I enjoy a pleasant little fantasy, occasionally. Since I’m fully immunized, I’m, for all intents and purposes, immune from the delta variant of the Trump virus – if I do contract it, the case I have will be mild and in no way dangerous – to me.

It could be deadly to the idiot, imbeciles and morons who follow Trump and refuse to get immunized- my next door neighbor who persists in flying one of those “hey, look at me – I’m stupid” Don’t Tread On Me flags, for instance. It would be more than easy to share a “gift” with him.

He knows I’m immunized – he jokes about me following “Fauci” all the time.

There are too many of them for it to be a natural phenomenon. They must be Russian clones, or zombies, or robots.

Thanks for including the lame, amusingly inaccurate “Viking helmet.” Seeing one of those Trumpanzees wearing that really drives home the point of how freak stupid those people are.

Why are the anti-vaxxers always portrayed as trump-loving, white (often white supremacists) morons? Trump has been telling people to get vaccinated. Even CNN’s bozo’s (Cuomo and Lemon) claim that 37% of the unvaxxed are white republicans. There is no actual data for this so they are coming up with a very unscientific guess, and this being CNN, you can bet the guess is on the high side. But even if 37% is correct, who are the other 63% who are holding out on getting jabbed? All those black Qanon guys? Both of ‘em? The 3 Hispanic guys at CPAC? No, it’s mostly black and brown people who simply don’t trust the vaccine or the govt who is pushing it. I believe there are nearly 200 of those people who are registered republicans! So who are the remainder of the 63% that are not POC? White democrats and independents must make up a good chunk. What’s left? Asians? Only 14% of them are registered repubs compared to 33% who are dems. It seems to me that while there are certainly some unvaxxed slobs who fit the usual portrayal, they do not make up the majority of those who refuse to get vaccinated – They’re simply the easiest target for the left, who certainly aren’t going to point to the many black, brown, asian and sometimes white folks who make up part of their voting block.

And I’m getting tired of seeing vax percentages as relative to the overall population. Seeing a large segment of the population isn’t even eligible for the vaccination, this is dumb. Kids 12 and under are ~50m. So when I see stats that claim we’re only 49% fully vaccinated and then back out 50m kids, the real number is about 59% of those eligible. Now, how about those with natural immunity (they had covid) who decided not to get the shot? I have no idea how many of those there are but they count towards herd immunity, don’t they? Then there’s a small % who decided to not get the shot because of some medical reason. I know 2 such ppl who consulted their doc and decided to hold off for now.

I would probably put the climate change denier first. Over the long run, climate change will probably do the most damage to our lives.

Why Republicans love coronavirus: They’re smart. They know that “corona” is Latin for “crown”, and they’re royalists at heart.

Do you know how evolution works? The DNA of each organism gets random variations in structures and abilities when it’s passed on to the next generation. Most of those changes don’t have any effect at all, and 99% of the ones that do have an effect are bad for continued survival of the descendants. But the 1% that improve the chances of survival mean that those descendants are happier, healthier, and more likely to reproduce than the others. Eventually (and, by “eventually” for organisms that reproduce multiple times per day, we’re talking a few weeks at most) the successful mutations come to dominate the entire population of those organisms.

Obviously, the bigger the pool of organisms doing that reproducing, the more likely they are to have a favorable mutation, just by sheer random chance. And any mutation of the delta variant that produces something “better” from the perspective of the coronavirus is one that’ll make it more contagious and thus more likely to breed even more descendants.

So corona’s future epsilons, zetas, etas, thetas, etc. really thank all of you who are so gladly hosting the delta variant for giving them their shot at the world stage.
