I wish I could show my mom that I turned out OK.

Old saying, a mother is only as happy as her saddest child.

Hard workers, long gone, built the country. This was their “pursuit of happiness”. For them, it was “worth it”. Ironically, there are those today, with prosperity being based on the efforts of the long gone hard workers, whose “pursuit of happiness” is to either get infected with a deadly disease, spread the deadly disease, or both.

He’s being sweet with the idea that she can only be truly happy if others are happy is sweet.

This certainly beats the idea, “I can be happy despite the fact there is misery all around the world that I can’t alleviate one tiny bit,” even though that is reality.

You can’t always help, Janis. You know this.

I remember my mom and my father-in-law both said that now they can relax, their kids are going to be OK, when my hubby and I got married. What a wonderful comment to hear.

Maybe a talk with Gus would cheer her up.

Making your happiness dependent on other people’s is a rather bad idea.

It looks like our immediate concerns about Gus were unfounded.

I have always said that making others happy is selfish because it makes you happy! Selfish isn’t always a bad thing!

It may be rewarding but not necessarily worth it money-wise…

41 years in a company who’s business is servicing other businesses. Restaurants die out faster than any other. The owner/operator or sole proprietor is the next. You talk and they have the biggest dream of how it’s done and I could tell they’d not make it 6 months. All that’s put in is lost and many have an kin to investor who’s just lost his life savings. I admire the self employed it takes guts, lots of hours and usually they are the last one paid on payday.

I love this story line. It is good to see parent’s feelings about grown children noted.
