This is dishonest crap. I live in a state where, years ago, the two parties agreed to broad voter ID laws where any reasonable sort of ID was acceptable. No credible claims of nontrivial voter fraud since then. The real issue isn’t the principle of voter ID. It’s the efforts of rightist Republicans to limit accepted forms of voter I’D to minimum as the effect on their base and maximize the disenfranchisement of their opposition.

Ah, the GOP wants compromise but then criticizes the other side when they compromise.

How about this? Let’s accept proof of vaccination as voter ID. If you’re not vaccinated, you can’t vote PLUS it’s harder to vote if you’re on a ventilator. Double win!!!

The latest poll data shows that Republicans 91% , Independent 87%, Democrats 62% support voter ID. Obama says Senator Manchin’s bill is not controversial. Activist and general pain in the neck Stacey Abrams has done a flip flop on the subject, so whats the problem. Get-er-done and yes serve up some crow, and if you want a beer or some other alcoholic beverage I’ll need to see your ID.

If Goodwyn is accurately reflecting conservative perspective, then they are significantly underestimating the level of rage that Republican voter suppression has generated.

I’ve problem with a national ID to vote. Just needs to be easily available to all Americans of voting age. Now let’s talk about voter suppression via various restrictions on how and where we vote.

To : Valiant1943 and many others: How difficult is it to reach into your pocket to pull out some sort of ID. You are given a year to obtain one in most cases, so get off your butt and take a few minutes or an hour or two and go get one. You’d do it to buy a beer. So what’s the problem.

A couple of times I’ve posted a link to information about the voting system in Canada. I won’t bother to do that again. I get tired of these endless uninformed discussions. The Canadian system requires reasonable proof of identity, but there are many forms of ID which are acceptable. People are encouraged to register. There are many polling stations and very little waiting time to vote. I’ve never waited more than five minutes. There are many other good systems around the world. This problem could be easily solved if everyone actually agreed that it should be solved. It continues to be a problem only because the Republican party doesn’t want to solve it because the Republican party doesn’t believe in democracy.

The voter ID is a bit of a red herring.Problematic, but can be overcome. More concerning is the setting up entities that can over turn local results if they sense “fraud”.

What is becoming very stale is the Repulsican Crime Family’s incessant pandering of a solution to a problem that didn’t exist before they invented it.

Of course the GQPs misrepresent what the Dems say about voter ID and racism, while ignoring that the GQP voting restrictions impact minority voters the most…
