A bagpipe has three drones and a chanter, (at least for the Scottish bagpipes). With three drones maybe the night guard was trying to drone people to sleep?

I’d say he’s doffed his tam’o’shanter completely….

Not gonna lie, if I had to stay up all night and yell at people what time it is every hour, I would try to entertain myself, too.

My ex said that when he was a freshman at Carnegie-Mellon, the college’s (semi)official bagpiper lived in his dorm. Occasionally the guy would get out his bagpipes & play “Silent Night” in the stairwell in the middle of the night. My ex’s reaction: “It was anything but silent.” 8-)

So that’s how you score bagpipe music. Never saw it written out before. Looks as painful as it sounds.

I wonder which is worse, bagpipe practice or drums?

Such calm and soothing music – probably helps put all the kiddies to sleep.

In India, we have the “shehnai” which looks more like flute or a clarinet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shehnai), but produces a doleful sound much like the bagpipes. There are a few very skilful exponents, like the late, great Bismillah Khan, who could make it sing to their tunes.
