That’s right Chippers, it’s all about the I.D. Of course it a gun owner’s card is valid, but not a student’s I.D. It has nothing to do with making it more difficult to access a voting station. It has nothing to do with the repugnant repubs using any flimsy excuse to throw out valid votes, declaring fraud and choosing their own winners.

Does she have to pay for that Drivers License? Is there a DMV office local to her? Did she have to get supporting documents that cost money? These are all the same as poll taxes. Make getting an ID and the documentation necessary for getting one free as well as makin sure the locations are easily accessible to people without cars and I have no problem with your precious ID requirement.

We had the largest turnout in the last Presidential election in history. It was well regulated and no significant fraud found. Our goal should be to have every citizen vote. Why is the GOP so afraid of this? Why do they keep trying to discourage people from voting?

Any political party that has to deny you the vote in order to win, tells you all you need to know about that party.

There are people living in metropolitan cities that have never owned a car, never driven a car, and never will. Driver’s licenses will never happen for them.

I think it was Columbia that did a poll showing 62% of Democrats, 84% of minorities and more people with less than $50,000 income than above favor photo ID for voting. How’s that for Democracy?

Saw last night a young man showing his license to the waiter to order beer. No one complained, in fact they were laughing about it and happy to do it. Seen the same thing happen at the liquor store drive up window, no problems there either. Had to do it at a Hooters one time, and at my age??? We just laughed, apparently it was a new policy then.

This cartoon is really lame. The person driving the car would certainly have a driver’s license and wouldn’t complain about it. It’s the people who don’t have cars (poor and often minorities) and thus no driver’s license (why would they get one?!) who are being disenfranchised.

A driver’s license does not prove that you are a registered voter. When you register to vote, you provide proof of citizenship and verification of identity and address. This is entered into the voter database and then when you provide your details, the database confirms registration and eligibility.

Many Trump voters were caught trying to vote again after they already voted. That is why the database is more important than a driver’s license alone.

Bok is a mid-west Buckeye. Apparently he has little idea what life in the big city is like. What it takes to own, insure and park a car. What it is like to rely on mass transit. How you have to plan every trip and accomplish everything you can or its another bus ride across town.

He has no idea what it is like to live without a bank account. To cash checks at the Pay Day Express.

He does not understand that many of the simple, every day tasks that he takes for granted, in his life of white privilege (I just thought I’d throw THAT one in there) are pretty damn difficult for those of us that have lived on the wrong side of the track.

Bokster, there’s a REASON why highly intelligent, gifted Black AND White Kids who grow up in poverty generally don’t become airline pilots, doctors or lawyers. It’s because they have no idea how to get on the path that takes you there.

Old joke: Some guy in the street asks Leopold Stravinski, “Hey Mac, how do you get to the New York Philharmonic?” Stravinski answers “Years and years of practice!”

If you’re growing up in poverty, you don’t see that, you don’t understand that you don’t graduate high school and become a doctor or an airline pilot. You start with a family who has already walked that path before.

Anyone who wonders why election integrity is so important can look at the preliminary findings of the Arizona ballot audit:

—74,243 mail-in ballots that were counted, but showed no clear record of being requested by voters, or even mailed out

—11,326 who voted, yet did not show up on the voter rolls until more than a month after the election

—3,981 who voted on Election Day, but were registered after 10/15 which would be a violation of state law

—Ballots were counted that were not on the proper thickness of ballot paper and were not properly aligned, meaning bleed-through of Sharpie and other ink could have caused misreading of vote. This requires further investigation, according to auditors

I’ve never heard of someone arguing that people who use drive through voting shouldn’t need to show a drivers license. Pretty much every good argument is how to vote securely with the way that matches the peoples living conditions.
