So the frogs are real, but Ernesto isn’t.

Once again, a little over 10 years ago, Richard posted a blog entry about this strip:

When we go to the library, my brother throws books at me. Then the librarian throws us out.

Ernesto causes a lot of trouble for an imaginary person

“Suprise amphibious assault”. Haha, very good – like D-day etc.

I’m no longer sure he’s imaginary.

I would literally go through an entire army career, from Basic Training to General of the Army, just to have to opportunity to yell, “Frogs Away!”

With Petey’s luck that frog is laying eggs.

What are carrels?

I wonder what the FA of A would call sedition – stepping on a crack? Not chasing lightning bugs when you have a chance?

“Carrels?” Don’t recall ever seeing that word before…

I had an imaginary acquaintance when I was a kid. I wouldn’t call him a friend. He spoke Portuguese and I couldn’t understand him so we had not much in common.

Compared to Ernesto, Petey’s as normal as blueberry pie!

I used to make those jumping frogs in school. They never gave me extra credit for my effort.

That’s funny, Away Frogs! is what most people yell after reading Frog Applause. No correlation I’m sure, and yet, a frog affront is usually quite disconcerting.

Ernesto is an enigma. As Richard said, his actuality is best left unexamined.

But I like to think that Ernesto is imaginary. From that, it follows that I have no explanation for the apparently real Origami Jumping Frog on My Hero Petey’s head in the last panel….
