Today is the anniversary of the Civil Rights Act 0f 1964 — Republikans plan to commemorate it by celebrating the gutting the Voting Rights Act by ideologues on SCOTUS.
Haven’t watched tv news in since the election. There’s no there there. Too many pundits instead of reporters. Even recording it would be a pain as the commercials leave too little time for substance.
I do watch TV “News” but I do not rely on it for information.
A typical evening newscast is 30 minutes long: 10 of which are commercials. Then there is the two minutes at the opening saying “this is what we will tell you tonight” as well as another couple of minutes wasted on “this is what we will tell you right after the break” which may actually come two commercial breaks later.
So you get 5 minutes into the broadcast until the first set of commercial breaks then they come more frequently and are longer. Sometimes you come back from commercial have 15 SECONDS of news and right back into commercial.
The average news “story” is probably about 20 seconds long. I don’t consider that in-depth coverage.
Of course NBC and FOX have different slants on the same story. NBC is biased, FOX is “loosely based on actual events.” And it is what the stations DON’T cover that you have to take note of. For example you almost never hear about January 6th on FOX.
So I read my news online. There is more content and it is easier for me to pick up the biases. I have to be careful to visit the “dark side” every now and then otherwise the bot feeds me only the news it thinks I like to read. Besides, it pays to know your enemy.
It’s all Mr. Hunter’s fault. Mr. Hunter was my fourth grade teacher and made the grave tactical error of introducing me to the use and function of a dictionary. “Normal (adjective): 1. a: conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern : characterized by that which is considered usual, typical, or routine. b: according with, constituting, or not deviating from a norm, rule, procedure, or principle. 2: occurring naturally. 3. a: approximating the statistical average or norm. b: generally free from physical or mental impairment or dysfunction : exhibiting or marked by healthy or sound functioning. c. not exhibiting defect or irregularity.” (Merriam-Webster, Unabridged). Based upon that definition, I would say we haven’t been normal for quite some time now.
There’s a marathon every holiday on all the various channels to take our minds on the real world problems . . . . or just watch The Twilight Zone for unexpected misery like we have now.
You left out Snakes…exploding rattlesnake populations because of climate change; little girls being bitten multiple times; pythons under toilet lids and on front porches; idiots who take their pet cobras out to play in the back yard and then lose them…

What the heck is “normal”, now or ever? Seems like the definition of normal changes with each passing generation. The word is essentially meaningless.

It won’t be normal until the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup.

^Nobody is being “forced” to face anything.^
Although the current version of “reality” as presented by Faux Snooze, OANN, Newsmax, & their ilk is pretty hateful.

Where is the Repulsican’s god when you really need him? He doesn’t show any real interest in saving them either.
