We have provided them with ample reason over the past four years to despise us. And to then act surprised and offended when they not only despise us but talk about it is the height of arrogance. Do we all not discuss the things that anger us? Why expect others to behave differently? Never mind vengeful, spiteful Gods who demand obedience. There is one simple rule that, if everyone would follow it, would make the world a better place. “Treat others as you would have them treat you.”

The same in my country. They say they hate Americans, the empire, and all that … but they would give an arm to live in America.

Makes you appreciate “home” to see the troubles in other parts of the world.

Just say to them: “1918. 1944.” and see what reaction you get.

The Italians might come here for pastrami. A man in Milan told us you can’t get pastrami in Italy; he was trying to make it himself, without much success.

We primitive locals are almost disgusting enough to amuse. Without our occupation forces, which are still in Europe, they’d go back to killing each other & blowing things up as usual, which we all know is bad for business. Mess with us? We’ve got a hammer & will hammer in the mornin’ & evenin’ all over the land. Just take the shiny beads, we’ll build schools & hospitals.

Europeans are like cats. If they don’t like something, they ignore it. Their derision is their way of liking us.

Excuse me! This is cartoon, not a real life situation, and a perpetuation of a stereotype that is unfair!France has many, many kind hearted, intelligent citizens who would find this cartoon as appalling as I find “ugly American “ cartoons from other countries. Get real and get kinder.

When my dad was living serving in The Army, he traveled to Paris back late 60s. He told me that Paris hated American people.
