I haven’t seen a frog in decades, but I remember seeing them all the time as a kid. At least there’s a few lizards around.

We have a colony of green tree frogs in our garden. Started with one or two, then we found a ton of tadpoles and the population exploded. They keep the mozzies down though and other bugs

Wiley’s imprimatur at the bottom of the cartoon says this one was written in 2017. Thought I’d seen it before. Still resonates today, the date notwithstanding.

For serious, one of the things that used to noticeably diminish the frog population was that so many of them were getting captured and pickled for use in HS biology classes. I don’t think they do that any more.

I think by now we have probably collectively accepted the fact that saying, “just saying”, means you are suggesting it as a fact.

Love how, after Lucy suggested the giant frog theory, everybody looked at her, including the pink frog!

I wonder if the frog jumped in the pond to tell his other friends her suggestion, or if it went to warn them that a talking pygmy horse was on to them.

I think this was the basic plot of the video game “Blaster Master.” The intro cutscene showed a boy’s pet frog mutating and jumping underground. The boy followed him to find an advanced civilization of mutants ready to conquer the surface.

UK Guardian, 25 July 2021: The insect apocalypse: ’Our world will grind to a halt without them’. According to biologist Dave Goulson, “Insects have declined by 75% in the past 50 years – and the consequences may soon be catastrophic.” Why bring this up here? Because frogs (and a lot of other forms of animal life) eat insects and if there are no insects to eat, they will also disappear, as will the things that depend on frogs, and the things that depend on the things that depend on frogs. In addition to being a major food source, insects also perform many essential functions for other plants and animals. They cycle nutrients, pollinate plants, disperse seeds, maintain soil structure and fertility, control populations of other organisms, get rid of dung and decomposing material.

Lots of comments here about wildlife that no longer exists within their areas. Examples abound world wide. But naysayers still insist that there is no climate crisis, that nothing has really change all that much. Who to believe, the shouters or the silence those that no longer have a voice?

stop using fertilizer and chemicals to kill bugs and they’ll come back just fine. After a Tornado at my place in 2015 I realized how much healthier my yard had become with zero care in the year following while the house was repaired and reconstructed. After 1 starter fertilization coming back I stopped. Best yard ever, shrubs trees etc since then. When your lawn gets healthy it eat the weeds and other stuff, it becomes self sustaining and Im in North Central towards eastern Texas with real extremes (Hot & Cold) in climate. Got lots of Frogs, lizards, birds, insects etc. It’s called an Eco system for a reason.

I’ve read that my city is one of the testing grounds for frogs in the spring…well there were virtually none this past spring…first they got a deep freeze (26 degrees) in the 3rd week of May, then they got cooked at 90 degrees the following week.
