The thag, being vegetarian, sees no threat or nutritional value to the man fruit hanging from the tree. The smilodon (feline formerly known as saber-tooth tiger) might regard Tarzan as fast food, but the thag tells smiley, “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

My money is on the Great Shaggy Brute. But only because I know that Tarzan doesn’t die and rescue us from the Pelucidor strips.

Or a fourth party arrives to save the day.

Well at least he’s going out with dignity. Hanging upside down in the woods in his underpants.

Our “Man-of-many-thews” could really use a Thagomizer right about now…

Surface humans in Pellucidar seem to have a remarkable ability to get thags and saber-toothed cats to fighting each other.

Tarzan: Where is the pin that is holding all this together?

And the thag says to the saber-tooth, “Hey, no reason for this to turn ugly. Let’s be friends – and celebrate with a piñata party!”

In Pellucidar, can Tarzan summon a mammoth/mastodon with his famous yell?
