Well Elvis, if you are willing to brave the thunder alone, I’m pretty sure the bed is still upstairs.

Pucky’s warm and Buzzy is all tucked in and cozy.

Ugh, that reminds me. Endless Fireworks Day is coming. Random explosions for hours on end. Whoopee. (I don’t like random loud bangs much more than Diesel does, which is to say, not at all.)

I’d pay a dollar—no, make that five dollars— to check out all the clothes and accessories in Pucky’s closet.

I do hope that is a battery lantern.

Pucky’s “Happy Camper” shirt and that little baseball cap are the most adorable outfit yet! And Elvis in a flannel shirt carrying a cushion from the big red couch is so…dignified? This whole indoor camping arc is creeping it’s way up the top 10 list!

I agree, Elvis. There is such a thing as too people/cats in a tent.

There’s always one who doesn’t appreciate leaving all their comforts for a hard bag on the floor…

My Dedicated Cat will cuddle up next to me if I lay down on the floor. She PREFERS the bed, but as far as she’s concerned it’s Cuddle Time with Her Person, no matter where Her Person is.

I get the feeling Elvis doesn’t want to give up the luxuries he’s used to.

Heaven forbid Elvis should ever escape. I can imagine he’s not even interested in trying.

Everyone looks so happy! Great night for all, even Elvis though he is not showing it! Love Goldie’s grin and that everyone has their sleeping bag.

I’m a little surprised that Puck isn’t wearing a “CN” ballcap.

Lupin, you and the other kitties would have shown up even if you weren’t invited. Not, of course, that this would have happened as your People love you.

Elvis-Anum: That was a most enjoyable campfire. Now for a most enjoyable night’s sleep.

Puckmosis: We’re all putting our sleeping pallets in the library and telling scary stories.

Elvis-Anum: And you expect me to take part in such an undignified endeavor? Fie on thee!

Beatrixia: Oh, c’mon. It’ll be fun.

Elvis-Anum: I have a feeling I won’t get a good night’s sleep if I participate or not.

Later that night

Tabith-Isis: …And that night, all the red dots just up and flew away. How could this happen? No one will ever tell.

Maat-Tilda: …And then, one of my fabrics went flying of its own accord? Zombie? or Zoomie?

Sophititi: Elvis, do you have a story to tell?

Beatrixia: Yeah, let’s hear your scary story.

Elvis-Anum: (Grumble, grumble) Oh, all right. Once there was a fine, dignified Siamese. One night he was sleeping in the newly discovered sun room at the Great Pyramid. Suddenly, there was a huge Thwump! Our intrepid hero was startled out of a sound sleep!What could have caused this terrible cat-astrophe?

All: And?

*Elvis-Anum: I’ll never tell!

I find Kitties arent much interested in true backyard camping though.

Puck is so gracious….in Panel 3 he is snug with the man and woman, all in their cozy sleeping bags.

In Panel 4, he has moved over to give Goldie and Elvis Space. We all know Elvis wants to be with the woman, (or he will have something else to complain about) and somebody has to pat the man’s face when he closes his eyes.

OT: Going for a ride…

Elvis reminds me of a line from The Quiet Man, " Ireland may be a poor country, but here a man sleeps in a bed and not a bag"

Georgia posted some sketches she did of Great Boot (Queen Mag’s dad) on Facebook and Instagram. Here is what she said about them if you can’t get to them to see the pictures themselves:

Great Boot was the ruler of the raccoons before his daughter Old Mag. He was a great hero of the raccoon/opossum wars. We’re unlikely to meet him in his youth in the comic, but I thought it would be fun to see him as the raccoons remember him! Many revisions went into his character design. I felt like being such a revered, beloved figure in the raccoon’s complex history, he should have the most elaborate garbage-armor.

His vacuum cleaner tank is functional and can either suck items up or shoot air out with a flip of a switch. His head phone crown can flip over to help block out the sound of the vacuum in battle. The raccoons have one cassette, and its hymns hold a sacred space for them. I’ve included some of the failed ideas you may see recycled into other raccoon designs, including a Halloween mask breast plate. (You know someone is getting that idea, lol.)

I kept getting hung up on including a boot or boots, but then reasoned Queen Magnet has no magnets and Gutter has no gutters. In the end, I gave him a spiffy little pair of baby boots the Girl used to have and concentrated on trash battle gear.

Let’s be clear. Loud fireworks BOOMS are optional. Spectacular displays can be created with very little noise. Those who make loud booms are showing disrespect for those who suffer from PTSD triggered by sound. They deserve our contempt.

Elvis, if you’re really that much a curmudgeon, I’m pretty sure the bed is still where it always is. Of course, you’ll be riding out the storm ALONE.

I’m guessing that lupin is going to come crashing through the roof.

I love the absolute joy on Goldie’s face! We just know she’s remembering when she had to hunt for shelter and now she’s permanently safe inside.

Yet another glorious costume for Puck! As many have said, “I want to see his closet!”

do remember our vets and active military during the Fourth. The fireworks are beautiful for most people but for others— to many bad memories.

A white gas lantern or even a propane one indoors? Not a good idea. Let’s hope that is an electric lantern. Much safer around kids and cats.

Thursday is the first day of July and no camping trip is really complete without insects. I wonder if the July Bug will make an appearance?

Took my dog camping once, she was a good sport but it was clear she was only tolerating it for me. She was a mutt of Australian Shepherd & chocolate lab origins and loved the outdoors in the daytime, but was a comfy bed at night type of girl. I do wish I had thought to take my cat out once, though her usually fearless self was TERRIFIED of deer for whatever reason.

This is the best thing to do when a nasty old storm hits.

I am also with Elbiff on this one. Camping is great but I do end up missing my bed.

Camping is more fun with cats.
