Was afraid of this. Tiffany was so focused on getting Bets back with Gunther, she forgot he was the one who walked away this time. Well, now it’s time for Tiffany to work her magic on Gunny. Hopefully before Les gets too far in his ear.
Whoever called this a Hallmark movie is dam right. We were offered Shakespearean drama and ended up getting lukewarm Benny Hill. Tiffany tinkling and suggesting visualizing the future won’t fix whatever it was that caused Bets to abandon Gunther at Weinie World.
If Bets’s efforts to contact Gunther fail, then she should just let him go and chalk this up as a lesson learned. Specifically, that there are decent guys out there who will treat her right.
So, you admit you messed up, and you are concerned that he’s not answering after what, 5 minutes? You oughta try weeks like someone (ahem) did to Gunther.
They are NOT broken up. Gunther can be cranky, and he never really got a chance to have a real conversation with Bets because Tiffany was doing romantic interrupting. I will go out on a limb (not that far really) and say by Saturday they will be all lovey dovey again with Ms. Tiffany being a big part of the hilarious conclusion of this segment of this love arc. As I always say WAIT before jumping to conclusions.
We don’t know if Bets’ message is “I’m so sorry I hurt you, Gun.I hope you can forgive me” or “I changed my mind. Come back. Our fans miss us.” Frankly, I hope Gunther is done with her either way…but I really doubt that Bets grasps how self-centered she has been.
Bets, you just ghosted gun for a month. How do you expect him to react after you ignore him for saying he loves you? He is just showing YOU how it feels to have your heart stomped on. Give him a couple minutes.
But of course, Bets. You ghosted him and was forced to meet him in person by Tiffany and then you made some lame excuses before getting into an argument with Tiffany, leaving Gunther out. Why would he answer your text? You did the exactly the same thing for weeks. Give him 6 weeks before Tiffany tricks him into meeting you in person.
If this arc leads, as I’ve gone out on a limb and predicted, to Bets and Gunther dining at Tiffany’s Table for Two, Take Two, I wonder whether Bets will do anything particularly notable that shows she’s focused more on living whatever experience she and Gunther are having than on putting on a show for social media followers. And if she does, what, I wonder, will it be? (Probably nothing so dramatic as dropping her phone into the fondue pot, I’m guessing.)
I like to write short stories, sometimes about real life. Now, if Bets and Gunther have a long life together, they will have many stories like one that happened to my wife and I shortly after we were married. We were staying at Rosarita Beach, Mexico. So, here we go:
.
“A Rare Moment”
Visualize: It is dusk, and you are walking in the sand
on the beach. You feel the soft sand between your toes,
hear the foamy waves gently pushing on shore, creating
a zigzag pattern in the sand. The breeze feels cool on
your skin as you watch the seagulls land on the beach.
You stop for a moment, turn towards her and caress her
face, feeling her soft skin, and in that moment, her eyes
seem to tell you what you want to know, but have really
known all along. Your heart pounds as your lips meet.
A tender kiss to an embrace, two become one, as the
rest of the world fades in importance. Minutes go by
that seem like seconds. You whisper something in her
ear and she smiles. Without hesitation, she takes your
hand and leads you in the direction of the beach cottage.
Slowly at first, then increasing the pace as the last vestiges
of light lose their hold on the day. Suddenly, your bare
foot encounters something in the sand. Someone did not
Nice to see that Bets has definitely changed her mind♡. But now she must deserve Gunther’s love, win him back. Going to talk to him in person seems like the best option. Maybe with Tiffany in the distance giving her signs of approval and encouragement with her hands. It would be fun.
I got the impression that Gunther was sick of Bets’ BS. If she wants a relationship with him she’s going to have to work on the controlling, the demands and the ego. The “I didn’t want to hurt you so I decided to ignore you and crush your soul” stuff didn’t fly with him.
“I don’t care if you never come home, I don’t mind if you just… go a-rowin’ away on a deep blue sea, ‘cause I don’t love you, and you don’t love me.” — Eric Clapton, “Promises”
This has been my complaint all along. This story line has been going on for what, 2 months and still no end in sight. Will tomorrow start a month of Bernice and Nil before they come back for another month of this?
So … she leaves him on the spot; won’t accept his calls; ignores his texts; then when they’re finally face-to-face she tells him she wants to end the relationship and watches him walk away after he finally gets the message. And now expects him to be sitting by his phone waiting for her call ?!?!?!? She’s got one he**uva nerve! Egotistical little sack of crap!
I am kind of surprised Bets does not have a tracking device on the lad’s phone. It would be fitting if Gunnie went underground for awhile and thus caused all concerned to freak out but he is probably at the Gulag watching another * Star Trek video or crying his sorrows to Irma and Al. Maybe Mr Gray can use his Vegas connections and send Gunnie there to decompress and hookup with a “nice” showgirl who owes him a favor but that would probably give Irma a coronary.
Anyone else noticing something here? Bernice may be the declared psych major and wannabe future therapist, but it’s Tiff who’s taking the high-end bartender path to the same role.
Yes, Tiff is about to work some of her magic, but what will the result be? Tiff&Gun.
Just because Bets went radio silent on Gunther doesn’t mean he should do the same to her. Don’t play the payback game ,it only makes him as wrong as she was and doesn’t solve anything . I get not answering immediately to cool down and gather his thoughts but he needs to step up soon and deal with the situation like an adult which I think he will .
going to have to do better than that bets, common, you ignored him for what seems like at least a few weeks (given things didn’t change until Tiff’s project on the dinner date was completed, graded and returned).
Try showing up at his house to make a serious apology
G&K had Gunther join the French Foreign Legion. The comic will take an exciting turn and after a year & when “Gun” becomes jump qualified, G&K will show “Frisé” (Curly) on adventures in France, Africa, and in the Americas.
huh, that’s like totally weird that he would just ghost you like that… I have no idea why! You want to play stupid games. You have to accept the rewards that come from them.
I got something to give ya that the mailman can’t deliver, I can’t mail it in, I can’t phone it in, I can’t send it in, even by your closest kin. I’m bringin’ it to ya PERSONALLY Get the hint, Bets? Hello?
Ok, lots of churn and boil in the comments section as GnK deliver the classic Wednesday change up/breaking ball/knuckleball (change up in my opinion, knuckleball would have been Tuesday Bets making the apology and Wednesday Gunther bailing). What nobody commented on was the 4th frame, Tiffany doing the “Pagoda of Peace” thing (touching the wind chimes and doing “MMM”) implying she’s calming the situation. Is this Tiffany “calming” things immediately and Gunther’s going to come out or is this Tiffany calling attention to herself so she can tell Bets “this is what you need to do to win Gunther back….”. A good set up and it could possibly lead to what Luann1212 wants (along with the pro Gunther/Bets crowd) or it could lead to a longer arc dealing with Bets redeeming herself to Gunther (which would be interesting because it would raise her up as a character about on the level of Brad and would honestly be following the Brad/Toni arc to a degree and align with calling it one of 3 significant loves here). Btw, for those hoping Gunther is done with Bets, always possible, he did walk on Rosa and didn’t look back. Guess we got to read on!
The rehabilitation of the Bets character has begun. Majority opinion among commenters is that Bets has been shown as an “aggressive, dominant, bossy” person. To this point, she has been considered a less-than-stellar companion for the sympathetic Gunther.
Today, due to the romantic machinations of our gal Tiffany, Bets has come to see the light. Gunther may be more than just a go-fer and arm candy. We are to take it that now she is ready to explore a mutual love relationship. One still wonders about her understanding of all that entails. Perhaps if she starts seeing Gunther as more than the diminutive names “Gun,” and now “Gunnie.”
But now “Gunnie” is persona incognito. Will the coning strips be about Gunther hiding away atop the proverbial mountain? Pondering the “meaning of life?” Chanting ommm? Or will the future be one of Bets enduring her dark night of the soul, pondering the loss of the only true love? Enduring the crucible of reformation? Pining for her lost Sir Galahad, the gallant and pure of heart, the most perfect of all knights.
Will they reconnect where it all began; at the The Fuse? Over a piece of banana pie? Only GnK knows.
okay, I have no sympathy for Bets. I am happy for Gunther cause he probably made the right decision by not answering the phone call. haha also wondering how Tiffany is going to take this bit of news:)
I see it this way: If Gunther was my best friend and he just told me he decided to cut bait on his relationship with Bets and not respond to her, my reaction would be “oh thank god! Dude I didn’t want to say it but that chick was the worst!”
My guess… Saturday will be a cliffhanger. Something on the order of Bets continuing her quest to contact “Gunnie.” OR Gunther and Bets re-meeting or agreeing to meet. Then were off to another arc to let them stew for awhile.
It comes to me that Tiffany and Bets are polar opposites. Tiff the open, lovable, ditzy, blond romantic busybody while Bets is closed, self-absorbed, pragmatic, and clannish.
Yeah yeah, a taste of her own medicine, except she didn’t answer for weeks and now she is shocked because he didn’t answer within a minute. He could be driving. I think Gunther is a person who knows you don’t text and drive. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, the writers were just making a (not so subtle) point and there’s still half the week to go.
First, we’ve been seeing Bets take relationship advice from Tiffany. While we all love Tiff and its nice to see her have a good point or two, we had to know she would miss something, maybe something important. So it makes sense that Tiff completely focused on Bets and missed the fact that Gunther was gone, stage left.
Second, we like Bets and many here hope she will end up in a happy marriage with Gunther, but it’s plainer than obvious Bets was very wrong to ghost Gunther for a month, no matter why. So it should be reasonable that Bets has to go through a little of what she put Gunther through, even though I do not think Gunther is deliberately ignoring Bets.
Third, Gunther said ‘I forfeit’ and walked away. I think that means Gunther made an important decision, one which will not be easy for Bets to change without some action of serious commitment.
Fourth, this comic has always been generally light-hearted, and I think Greg is aware that he has killed off way too many romances over the years and owes the fans a happy ending here.
So if I had to guess, I think Bets will not be able to talk with Guns until she visits him in person, and Guns will make clear that he has also been hurt before and deserves a partner who is as committed as him; no more of Gunther carrying 95% of the load. Bets will promise that she is ready to make that commitment, but Guns will not believe her.
A little while later, Bets will show up again, promising Gunther she is committed and likely comparing their relationship to a Pon Farr condition, a need she cannot ignore. Bets may propose to Gunther at that time.
Tiff’s romance with the wind chime will sadly come to an end when Tiff finds out the wind chime belongs to TJ.
“Gunnie” is an actual, separate person who can make his own decisions. Bets seems to think he exists only for her amusement. I hope he never answers her.
see i didnt really like Bets and Gunther. she always was like were doing this and it seemed like he was more a pet than boyfriend….oddly enough im still rooting for him and tiffinay to get together. Like the geek and the Cheerleeder seems like fun. (worked out for brad and toni they changed each other and that was nice.)
Gunther could really use some quality guy friends apart from Les.How about next scene he ends up at the Fuse and ends up talking with Ox or TJ… Or in a big stretch Quill has dropped by?Phone is either silenced or dead battery and he gets useful advice. Can you picture Quill saying “Yeah the drama sucks, but does it suck so much that you let her go? I wish I never let Luann go she left a whole in my heart…”
If actions speak louder than words, wonder what Bets will DO to TRY TO win Gunther back?Or perhaps we should ask, what will Tiffany cook up next for Bets to DO! ;-) She’s definitely thinking about it. I hope she isn’t going to revisit the pirate dinner episode. :-o
Hmm. Bets is not pleased that Gunther did not immediately respond. Very interesting:
1. To me this highlights what appears to be the very significantly unequal power dynamic in the Bets-Gun relationship. Bets is alarmed that Gunther has not immediately replied…. but still seems unaware or uncaring that she did not reply to Gunther’s texts/calls for weeks… and without the push by the forced meeting via Tiffany…. perhaps even longer.
2. To me, I am not sure if either party (Bets nor Gunther) are fully cognizant of the inequality of the power dynamic of their relationship as it has been….. but… both really need to recognize and be aware of this.
3. I think that with the strong appearance that the two of them will rejoin as a couple… there MUST be some change(s) that need to occur to all them to both be more equal members of the relationship….. or this negative type of scenario will simply replay over and over again.
4. I am not convinced that Bets would be as into the relationship if the power dynamic were more equal. And, I am not sure if Gunther really understands how unequal things are…. nor if he understands how to be more an equal in this relationship.
Ok, I’m on the fence with this romance. I was very upset with Bet’s leaving Gunther stranded and not calling or texting him back. I also thought she was feeding him a bunch of BS about being hurt and all, but I’m coming around. I’m a hopeless romantic, I love the Jerry McGuire movie when he totally ignored her for a while and then came to her in person and said his spiel. Her response “You had me at Hello”. Makes me melt every time. I hope Bet’s goes to Gunther in person.Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance.
I think it’s possible that they will get back together, but Gunther is a face-to-face kind of guy, not a text relationship type. He tried, he met up with her face-to-face after being ghosted, wasn’t happy with what he heard, and left. He is not likely to make up by any electronic means. Bets is out of touch with the real world. He forfeited after being ghosted for a month, acknowledging that this relationship has no future. It’s going to take a lot of in person discussions if they are going to get back together, and Bets needs to be honest.
Why is it that a female can take as long as she likes to answer a text with no repercussions, but a male who hesitates for even a moment, is immediately wrong for not answering RIGHT NOW. (uhh, asking for a friend…)
Hurts, doesn’t it? You expect to snap your little fingers and expect Gunther to come running back to you so you can cr*p all over him again? I hope he blocks your number.
Tiff’s “Mm?” could mean that she’s not paying attention. Or it could also be an “Is that so?” Mm? because she can see that Gunther has returned and is behind Bets, perhaps witnessing her admitting that she made a mistake. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
Tiff – if you really want to call Gunther back, take down those three small tubular bells, and Mike Oldfield will let you use these three slightly larger tubular bells:
“You cause a commotion when you come to town, give ‘em a smile and they melt. Having lovers and friends is all good and fine, but I don’t like yours and you don’t like mine.” — Eric Clapton, “Promises”

Pining for her lost Sir Galahad, the gallant and pure of heart, the most perfect of all knights.
Will they reconnect where it all began; at the The Fuse? Over a piece of banana pie? Only GnK knows.

okay, I have no sympathy for Bets. I am happy for Gunther cause he probably made the right decision by not answering the phone call. haha also wondering how Tiffany is going to take this bit of news:)
mikey77711 almost 3 years ago
I see it this way: If Gunther was my best friend and he just told me he decided to cut bait on his relationship with Bets and not respond to her, my reaction would be “oh thank god! Dude I didn’t want to say it but that chick was the worst!”

My guess… Saturday will be a cliffhanger. Something on the order of Bets continuing her quest to contact “Gunnie.” OR Gunther and Bets re-meeting or agreeing to meet. Then were off to another arc to let them stew for awhile.

Time to forget the impersonal contact and show up in person with visible and audible emotion.

It comes to me that Tiffany and Bets are polar opposites. Tiff the open, lovable, ditzy, blond romantic busybody while Bets is closed, self-absorbed, pragmatic, and clannish.

Hmmmm. Tiffany looks pleased?
buer almost 3 years ago
Yeah yeah, a taste of her own medicine, except she didn’t answer for weeks and now she is shocked because he didn’t answer within a minute. He could be driving. I think Gunther is a person who knows you don’t text and drive. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, the writers were just making a (not so subtle) point and there’s still half the week to go.
DanielDrummond almost 3 years ago
This should have been expected, actually.
Tiff’s romance with the wind chime will sadly come to an end when Tiff finds out the wind chime belongs to TJ.

see i didnt really like Bets and Gunther. she always was like were doing this and it seemed like he was more a pet than boyfriend….oddly enough im still rooting for him and tiffinay to get together.

Well that tears it! Now they’re for sure going to get back together. What’s up with Tiffany and those chimes?
Moonkey Premium Member almost 3 years ago
I think it’s possible that they will get back together, but Gunther is a face-to-face kind of guy, not a text relationship type. He tried, he met up with her face-to-face after being ghosted, wasn’t happy with what he heard, and left. He is not likely to make up by any electronic means. Bets is out of touch with the real world. He forfeited after being ghosted for a month, acknowledging that this relationship has no future. It’s going to take a lot of in person discussions if they are going to get back together, and Bets needs to be honest.

Tiff’s “Mm?” could mean that she’s not paying attention. Or it could also be an “Is that so?” Mm? because she can see that Gunther has returned and is behind Bets, perhaps witnessing her admitting that she made a mistake. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
