Pretty close. I saw an analysis that says Manchin will be much more likely to vote “aye” on issues such as health care, assistance to families, rental aid… things that are targeted at specific things his constituents care about, but NOT broad sweeping “liberal issues”. The depiction of Mitch McConnell seems to be precise. Including a plan to deny Biden any chance to appoint a judge to SCOTUS.
Progressives are crying that Biden isn’t get anything done. Of course, as usual, they tend to ignore the reality that Dems can never get a good majority to do anything easily. But it is easier to blame them than vote for them.
The tactics of Newt have worked all this time. Mitch isn’t going to change the strategy. Win at all cost, and destroy your enemy. Do you see compromise in there anywhere?
Manchin thinks he has gained power for himself, and that Republicans will like him… he has already wasted his opportunities, and Republicans will never like him as long as he is a Democrat. McConnell has no interest in governing, because that involves consideration and cooperation and compromise with legislators who have differing platforms than his… he just wants to obstruct and grab power.
“The third and most significant source of pressures which discourage political courage in the conscientious Senator or Congressman … is the pressure of his constituency, the interest groups, the organized letter writers, the economic blocs and even the average voter. To cope with such pressures, to defy them or even to satisfy them, is a formidable task. All of us occasionally have the urge to follow the example of Congressman John Steven McGroarty of California, who wrote a constituent in 1934:
“‘One of the countless drawbacks of being in Congress is that I am compelled to receive impertinent letters from a jackass like you in which you say I promised to have the Sierra Madre mountains reforested and I have been in Congress two months and haven’t done it. Will you please take two running jumps and go to hell.’”
—John F. Kennedy (1917-1963), 35th US president, Introduction to Pulitzer-winning Profiles in Courage (1956), about 8 former US senators who ruined their political careers by putting principle above partisanship and personal advantage
Should we expect more of that in 2021? Ha! The main thing Joe Manchin has in common with Daniel Webster is that they each have 7 letters in their last names.
Where are the real investigative reporters that should be uncovering all of Moscow Mitch’s unethical and more importantly illegal action of the last decade that will get him sent where he belongs, PRISON.

When Manchin says “get along”, he means “not lift a finger for the American people”.

Someone should show Joe Manchin how “bipartisan” the voter suppression laws were that passed in the states.

Bipartisanship died with Newt Gingrich. Sociopathic, sadistic, hypocrisy rules the republican party.
