Strangely enough, I’ve met only a very few politicians (outside of academia) who actually understand statistics, science, and how to use logic to make thoughtful decisions. Regardless of what party the say they’re associated with, and regardless of liberal, conservative or weird.
You get a rare like from me on this one, Ted. At least some Democrats realize Republicans are wholly the Party Of Trump and are ruled in the Senate by Moscow Mitch.
The reality is that a significant portion of Americans have no interest in science or reality and cheerfully embrace a culture of crazy-stupid. I am not overly optimistic about elections in 2022, 2024.
It seems as if, these days Political Science + Science Fiction = Political Fiction. Or Poly-tick-ical Friction. Who might win this year’s Nobel Putz Prize?
Let Herr Groppingfuror keep on telling the Trumpanzees that it’s useless to vote because it’s rigged against them. We’ll take more elections like the Georgia senatorial races last January.
It may be that none of this will ever happen, but if we could get all the Dems to vote during the midterms, then we could have that true Dem congress that we need to save this nation and planet.
If Democrats believe that they’ll ever get the Greedy Old Pricks to work with them for the good of the nation they do not have a firm grip on reality. The GOP wants nothing but absolute power with a dumbed down nation of obedient wage slaves. I think the Democrats are still reaching for pie in the sky.
Totally agree with Rall on this one! If Democrats resort to the tactics described in the third panel, they will do nothing more than stoop to the level of their opponents – and their opponents will probably beat them at that game since they have more experience recently…
Well, the Democrats are doing what they can to build on their early successes (The Covid Relief Bill for one), and are working on what they can accomplish with the razor thin margin between them and the GOP. With Manchin effectively nixing ending the filibuster, there is only so much they can do. But the 2022 midterms are a year and a half away and in the world of US politics, one year is an eternity. I remain hopeful that the Dems will be able to accomplish enough that we can bring out the Democrat base strongly (and perhaps moderate Republicans and independent swing voters as well) and widen their majorities in the House and Senate. In 1998, with “Monicagate” dominating the national headlines, every self anointed political expert was predicting the GOP would be awarded a veto-proof supermajority in the House and Senate. Instead, the GOP saw their majorities in both houses whittled down considerably.

Good observation Ted; it’s very frustrating to those who would like lucidity in political parties and governing.

Fortunately, that’s true of almost all Democrats; unfortunately, it is NOT true of almost all republicans- Louie Gohmert comes to mind.

Sorry pal. While science and reality are good, you’re living in a world of magical thinking and Jewish space lasers.

Good thing Bernie isn’t president. He’d have maybe two supporters in the Senate, and 5 to 8 in the house.

Half of the public prefers racist republican anti democracy lies.
They haven’t gotten over their juvenile Hitler complex yet and want a dictator to subjugate everyone else.

Keep up, Theodore. It’s two “moderate” dems that the rest of the party is now bowing to.

You know, you can switch the parties mentioned and it would still be accurate.
