It is sad when 15 states block teaching US history as it really happened but ask teachers to lie about or omit the parts that would show how immoral/unethical they were in the past.Hard to honestly pledge to be an indivisible nation, when the truth is denied by law … turning rule of law into a cruel joke on your own children. QAnon’s alt-reality is leading its followers to self-destruction and trying to take our constitutional democratic republic with it with its lies, distrust, and disrespect.

It is very simple. Republicans in their current incarnation — and their historical forebears under a variety of other names including at one time Democrats — have always, always, always existed to maintain the interests of the rich at the expense of the rest. They are the heirs of the nobility of Britain and have done a good job of conning just enough regular folks into thinking that making the rich more powerful is good.

Some wealthy people see this as the most logical, most honest way forward. They see their wealth as an obligation rather than deserved, and they work for the general good. Virtually every well-functioning society with a solid middle class follows this path.

We saw the Republican plan in Texas for utilities – how’d that work out for Texans? We’ve seen the *45’s “plan” for ignoring power grid and cyber security upgrades. We’ve seen GOPSOBs revoke Clean Air and Clean Water Acts (Nixon…Republican), and roll back other regulations to protect the environment. We’ve watched them reduce size and threaten what remains of National Parks. This is what Republicans do. When confronted, they simply LIE about how concerned they are. Prime example: they claim to be frustrated they are that Dems never do anything, while ignoring the over 400 bills passed by Dems in the House during *45’s administration, which F’n Mitch had sitting on his desk and never brought before the Senate for debate. Using infrastructure as a metaphor: as the bridges collapse and loved ones are plunged into deep waterways, or financial stability plunges loved ones into crushing debt, or living wages are denied and folks working 2 or 3 jobs still facing no way out of the abyss of poverty, all we will get from the followers if Mitch and his ilk are more “thoughts and prayers”. Shareholders of stock in major corporations are beginning to step up and fight capitalism without restraint, holding their corporate boards and CEOs accountable. More shareholders of like mind need to group and use that pressure companies to be more accountable to their employees for living wages, as well as workplace safety as well as environmental concerns.
