Republican Varvel just basically takes the GOP talking point of the day and turns it into a cartoon. Dealing with the root cause of people coming to the border is probably more important than a photo op at the border don’t you think?
Harris is doing a far better job in Guatemala where the leadership there is open to change and like Biden wanting to improve the life of his populace. Going to our southern border would only be a photo op, though it might encourage the border patrol there. But, real change must be done back at the source where the possible immigrants are, not where they will one day go to. We can encourage change in the CA countries and allow their people to remain at home and not risk further hardship in a wasteful pilgrimage to our border.

I keep having to point out to idiots like Gary Varvel that VP Harris is FROM the SW border, has seen it all, prosecuted it all, and unlike Varvel and his clique knows a ton more about the problem than they do, but they don’t listen. She does not have to go to the border for a phot op, but Varvel needs an hypocricy checkup.
I don’t like Varvel’s politics, but this is a fair criticism in cartoon form of the interview. But he’s a little late to the party…so this comes off as boring and derivative of other comics from yesterday. That’s the problem with drawing strips a day or two before you publish. This event was already mocked to death yesterday. Now it’s like, “you’re still talking about this?” Social media has made the news cycle so quick.

This is what you get when one selects a running mate Not because of competence and merit but because of color and gender. Harris will go down as one of stupider VPs in history. It says something that she laughs whenever she gets a tough question that she’s uncomfortable with and doesn’t want to answer or doesn’t know the answer. It’d take about three hands of poker to figure out her tells.

Conservatives are horrible with analogies. Would they feel better if she went to the border and tossed paper towels and toilet paper to the migrants in the same manner Trump tossed them to Puerto Ricans in crisis? Republican and Democratic politicians visiting the border the last 10 years of refugees migrating through Mexico to US border you’d think would’ve totally fixed the problem the way Conservatives are trolling Harris on this issue.
Yep, Central American governments’ corruption and increased violence (and the relative strength of the US economy) have nothing to do with the numbers of immigrants. But a visit by a politician, now there – THERE is the thing to fix the problem.
Typical Varvel/Payne/Bok/LisaB horse maneuvers. Because actually trying to deal with the folks in charge where the problem STARTS… which she’d done… isn’t so easy to lampoon. Not that they won’t try anyway.
The photos ops that Repubs like Ted “Cancun” Cruz and Trump did at the border took away from Border Security. Because of the politicians’ presence, security had to be increased, the Border Patrol likely had to increase overtime and cancel planned time off. The Repubs are more interested in propaganda than in actually accomplishing anything.
Biden announced that Harris would be handling the border crisis about three months ago. It’s a little early to declare her efforts a failure to solve a problem that has existed for a couple of centuries. Most illegals don’t come from Mexico, they are just passing through. They come from countries made dangerous by the American drug trade. She is in those areas, working to make them safer so people don’t want to make the dangerous and difficult trip to leave them and head for the country that created the problem but is itself safer to live in. She isn’t going to solve the immigration problem until the drug problem is solved, which could be done by legalizing everything and dispensing it like xanax, but she can make some minor changes that will make the problem a little better. That’s what she’s doing.
All this “PHOTO OP CRAP” is an excuse. You really need to go and see what the Border Patrol has to put up with, with drained resources and personnel. You have to see how Governors are low on funding the National Guard Units trying to control the inflow of immigrants, coyotes, child molesters, and people who are from all over the world coming in. It is the same as when a tornado, hurricane, or a natural disaster hits a state, POTUS should respond to see the damage and make those citizens feel like he cares. Truth is she is like Biden, he never went to Hawaii when they had a natural disaster, no every weekend he heads for Delaware to his home. We had tornados in Ark. Miss. Ala. and Ga. Biden never bothered to be a POTUS. Mainly because he could care less about Red States. So shut up your “PHOTO OPS DON’T WORK!” Come up with another excuse.
