Why aren’t the democrats taking his leadership positions away. Republicans say the democrats are the kings of cancel culture. Republicans took Liz’s leadership away. I guess they are the kings of kancel kulture.

Maybe we should think. The man does have a problem. If he joins the centrist Democrats instead of looking like Republican light, the Republicans will call him a flaming liberal and he may loose his seat in the Senate to a real Republican and Mich will be Majority leader. It wouldn’t be so bad for him. He gets to be called “Senator” for life and I expect employment would not be a problem, but we wouldn’t like Mitch back in the “leader” roll would we.

The majority of his states voters want him to vote yes for Voting Rights, so he really should do what his constituents want. If he doesn’t, they need to find another Republican to run against him in his next primary.

Tell me again how binary partisan obstruction by politicians — whose only qualifications are age and citizenship — makes everything better than the will of the people would, for the US voters and their families.

There is more to this than meets the eye. If Manchin is representing his constituents, then he should be voting for the ’For the People Act’ and for a big infrastructure bill. They want these things passed. If he is a leader, he should be coming up with much better reasons why he is against voting for bills his fellow Democrats have proposed.

Something smells about this.

It may involve money. It may involve hoping for pork for his state. It may involve pressure from Oligarchs. It may be a self-centered desire to be important. It’s probably a combination of things.

There is more to this than meets the eye.

He’s a DINO.

He is looking at his next election. He knows where his money comes from, it isn’t small donations either.

the filibuster, in this malformed senate anyway, can be legitimate when the minority of senators represent the majority of the nation. . .this should be a compromise filibuster he proposes

Manchin’s reversal on 79% WV approved For the People Act follows corporate donations

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggested that Manchin’s opposition to the proposal and filibuster reform may really be about measures in the bill aimed at cracking down on lobbyists and dark money.

“This is probably just as much a part of Joe Manchin’s calculus than anything else,” she told MSNBC on Tuesday. “You look at the Koch brothers and you look at organizations like the Heritage Foundation and conservative lobby groups that are doing a victory lap … over the fact that Manchin refuses to change on the filibuster. And I think that these two things are very closely intertwined.”

“When it comes to this ‘bipartisan’ argument, I gotta tell you, I don’t buy it,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Joe Manchin has voted for bills that have not been bipartisan before. Look at the American Rescue Plan. So this is not just about bipartisanship.”

The filibuster doesn’t have to be completely removed. Just change it back to a senator having to defend his/her position on the floor for hours or days. ted crud would love to read Green Eggs and Ham to us again.
