Ah well. Low bars are easier to jog over.

No full moon here again last night. Every event lately has been hidden behind a cloudy/rainy sky and most of SE Michigan was covered last night. grrrrr

Caught barely a glimpse of it Wednesday night, and Thursday night was completely overcast.

Just like the moon, my interest in this is waning.

Stupidity and ignorance on an equal basis. Minutes of difference this time of year. But the full moon is still up longer IN THE DARK than the three hour lost by being out of phase with the sun rise/set.

“The strawberry moon is the first of four full moons of the summer season. Its name, which originates from Indigenous peoples, refers to the ripening of strawberries and other fruits that occurs in late spring and early summer.”

Sometimes I can go as long as 28 days without seeing a full moon.

For once Frazz and I have something in common. I like the moon in other phases too. But a full moon is awe-inspiring. Literally.

Frazz15 hrs · If it’s not a waste to have a full moon on the shortest night, it is, it turns out, something of a stressor to be a cartoonist drawing an episode about the nearly full moon on such a night. Or a full moon on nearly such a night, and in a week when swim practices have been moved to 6AM instead of 5:30. Every single morning, the moon set before I was outside to see it, leaving me to look up the moon’s schedule afterward to make sure I hadn’t mistaken a new moon for a full moon. Not that I’d have been able to do anything about it but brace myself for all the corrections. Which would have been more embarrassing, but no more stressful, than all that doubt.

But we’re good. Onward to the next error, perceived or real.

I wanted to see the sun rise for the solstice (my birthday) but it was cloudy Monday-Wednesday mornings. So, we got up early Thursday morning in time to catch the full moon setting over the ridge to our west then drove up to a favorite mountain spot to watch the sun rise over the ridges to the east. Seeing the moon set and the sun rise that day was pretty cool!
