There’s a YT channel from a guy in Canada – DIY Renovations – that gives one of the best explanations of the insane price increase in lumber. Not supply issues……more like insane greed issues.
Basically, the company is at 100% manufacturing capacity, but demand is 110%. Rather than retool, expand, hire more people, etc., they simply ignore the extra 10%, jack the price up more than quadruple, and for no extra effort, make a killing.
I hope there will eventually come a point where they’re drowning in their own piles of lumber. I for one have stopped buying any and all lumber, have no plans for renovation projects. A lot of building contractors are going under from this, and it’s both unconscionable and avoidable.
So, while unregulated corporatocracy, clearly, does not benefit everyone, well-regulated, democratic socialism is still considered evil because it does serve everyone?
