When I was doing a yoga/tai chi class, I had to use a chair while everyone else was using the floor. I knew if I got down on the floor, I would undo any good I gained by trying to get back up.
My doc sent me to PT awhile back. Most of the exercises they expected me to do at home required a hard flat surface. The only hard flat surface in my house is the floor. I told them if I could get down on the floor, I wouldn’t need PT!
I always have my cell with me, and never intentionally get on the floor. My knees won’t let me crawl, so if I’m down there I have to move on my rear cheeks.
