I don’t know how things are in the white collar world lately, but companies are desperate for employees in the blue collar world. My company’s management claims this is the first time in the company’s 75 year history they’ve felt the need to hang a banner on the side of the building advertising job openings, just like most of the other companies in town. Funny how none of them seem to be giving any thought into raising wages or offering better benefits to entice more people to apply. Heck, my company isn’t even offering a non-hostile workplace.
The isolation requirement has opened the eyes of many parents to the actual needs of their children and their own to be available for them. Successful longevity for any company – or family – is based on the ability to adapt to new circumtances in a thoughtul way. The eventually successful groups will combine the old treadmill with the new ‘camping out’ format in a way the benefits both. At least that is my hope.
I tried out for track in high school and was wondering about how the hurdles worked, specifically what was the penalty for knocking one over. The coach said “Nothing. Knock ‘em all over if you want. It just slows you down, and that’s penalty enuf.” Not sure if the same principle applies to the hurdles one encounters in the work world, but it might be fun to give it a shot.
People are leaving my company because they are insisting they come back in person to work. Why do that when five other companies will allow you to continue working from home?

Yeah. Fat chance o’ that. The bosses have been building up steam for a whole year now. And the go-getters the same.

Is this the 100 meters hurdles or 200 meters hurdles? Which floor are we on?

That tricky hurdle on the corner? It’s called attrition.

Thought rat races were more like mazes. Either that or those hurdles should be hoops.

That sharp turn should eliminate some of the competition.

Give it a just a little more time. When businesses realize workers need a living wage, they will pony up.

It’s only a “rat race” if you race with rats.

Lily Tomlin (I think)—The problem with the rat race is even if you win it you’re still a rat.

Looks like a case of “Who dares wins”; apparently they get to stay alive, instead of jumping over the edge. Good luck, all players.
