Hey Vera, if she takes off the gloves – RUN!

Good morning™, all!

Mysta is looking very “presentable,” but she hasn’t read J. Straightedge Trustworthy at all, I suspect. The hair still looks “off” to me and I’m not sure about the white gloves.

Remembering their last encounter, this meeting is rather unbelievable.

Wow!!! What a stupendous, magnificent, intriguingly groundbreaking perfect strip team Tracy has provided for our viewing, reading pleasure today!

We don’t deserve to even be in it’s presence,, we’re so unworthy!!!

The best of the best is evident today, yes sir!!!

Mike, THANK YOU for bringing Mysta back to the strip. It’s been way too long since we have last seen her. And Vera, he has always been one of my favorite characters, although he is such a Cad these days. Joe, THANK YOU for the beautiful artwork today. Mysta looks beautiful! I’m SO looking forward to this story.

So happy to see Mysta with Platinum hair, instead of the yellow.

About Mysta’s and Honeymoon’s horns: Do they really spark, or is it just for us, the readers? Are the sparks like the speech balloons that only we can see?

Something else: Vera’s not a total nincompoop. He had Mysta meet him in a crowded restaurant; she’s much less likely to zap him in public.

MAC why did you have to kill the original Mysta leaving us with this creepy clone?

Also, is this supposed to be before, during or after the pandemic? Or was there no pandemic at all in the Tracy-verse? (I’ve only recently started to read the strip again. But I’ve been catching up.)

Strip away all the polite BS and you’ll hear the real subtext:

Alldid: Gee whiz, what a woman! I’m positive that once she knows (in detail) all the countless ways I’m such a cool guy, she won’t be able to help herself but go gaga over me. I’m in!!

Mysta: Hmmm… okay, we’ll start with a double order of caviar, and ooh what’s this — $75 for a salad? Oh, I HAVE to see what that tastes like. Ah yes, a $300 Wagyu tenderloin — and I don’t even eat meat! I’ll pretend to nibble at it only while he’s talking so I’m sure he’ll never notice. Now where’s the wine steward at, ‘cause I’m gonna need a buzz like PRONTO if I have to put up with this clown for the next 90 minutes…

No surprise that anybody who’s a close friend or relative of Tracy would forgo reading his strip, it being such a corny caricature.

I wonder if certain foods to charge up her battery more than others?

Today is a prime example of why I believe the dailies are much better in b&w.

The deep-blue coloring on Mysta’s eyes, while not technically a mistake, completely alters how we perceive her expression from that of the b&w version:

Only in the b&w can you 100% appreciate the withering “side eye” she’s throwing at Alldid.

No, Vera, she hasn’t been following your strip Why should she when she can follow what happens to the real thing. Plus, as the recap indicated at the beginning of this arc, you really got on her bad side. Didn’t it at least imply that she had to use her “moon talents” on him?

I wonder if Mike or Joe ever get that when they tell people they write “Dick Tracy”

I must say, Mysta is quite fetching in that outfit. Her expression too shows she’s not as much a ‘bubblehead’ as Alldid may perceive her as.

Mysta dressed for a hot date. What’s going on here?

I was just about willing to let this go, but the more I think about it, I can’t believe that Mysta would not remember Alldid and their previous encounter. I’m now assuming that she is feigning ignorance of the guy for a not yet specified reason. If that isn’t the case… well, this is a significant mistake on the part of Team Tracy.

Dude – don’t bore her to death with The Story So Far – get to the pitch!

Really fancy restaurant, means really high prices along with really tiny portions

Vera invites Mystra to dinner….is he trying to persuade her to be included in his strip? The guy did say he had writer’s block.

Wow….dinner at an elegant restaurant….and the topic of conversation is going to be his comic strips?

It’s finally dawning on me that most of the people responding to the “new” Dick Tracy probably started reading it in the 60s or 70s, and think this is a Sci-fi strip. So, the guys will cater to them, turning the classic into Marvel with rehashed characters. Sad.

Oh, those blue limpid pools, those ruby lips, those shapely hips. Yeah, I’d prolly ask her out if I wasn’t too busy.

“Oh, please, Mr. Alldid, don’t trouble yourself. I really don’t give a d*mn about your absurd comic strip/parody.”

Okay, so Mysta is too polite to have said that. But she might have thought it!

This dinner-date/business meeting is not going to go where Vera wishes it would go, though for the sake of the story I sadly acknowledge that he and Mysta Chimera may reach some kind of working agreement on his publicity proposal.

But I still have no clue where and when the crime-that-gets-Tracy’s-attention will come in….

Can anyone, especially the ladies, what her facial expression in P2, especially her eyes are saying? ;p

I just wonder where this story is going and how many new characters introduced. Just please no blue balloon!
