My dog “Clementine” (2001-2016) had a very impressive bark when a stranger came to the door, about an octave higher than her regular bark. Had I been on the other side of the door I would have been glad that the door opened inward so she couldn’t just push it open if it wasn’t latched well.

I can actually tell a “it’s a stranger!” bark from a " hey! You’re here! " bark. Have 4 dogs, can tell which it is by: the sound they make when walking on hardwood or linoleum, the sound they make when drinking, and the sound they make when eating.

How about the “I’m bored and barking for no discernible reason?”

Just because hey your buddy doesn’t mean he’s not strange. Some of my best friends are oddballs and misfits.

He should – dogs are willing to give lessons for hours … and hours.
