Years ago, one of the greatest rifts between me and my evangelical in-laws occurred years when I read aloud a CSM article — from their newspaper — that was critical of Israel’s mistreatment of Palestinians.
Think about it. If tomorrow some group rolled through your neighborhood and took your home, moved you to a slum, Limited what you could do work wish. Won’t you maybe say this is not right and maybe do something about it.
Wasn’t our prior twice impeached President waiting to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts? Obama got one. Surely Trump was nominated by some despot someplace . . ./S
Once there was a Palistine – a region administered by the British. Once there was a terrorist organization that killed British administrators and civilians. Once….
I’d like to see more adult behavior from both sides but it’s clear which side is behaving worse. I was raised a Reform Jew. I was in grade school in the ‘50s when Jews all over the world were inspired by Israel. It’s not so easy to be inspired these days.
Like the character here, I grew up thinking in very basic terms: Israel good, Palestine bad. The more I learned, the more I began to question, and when Dump came out so strongly for Israel, I KNEW that couldn’t be good. I need to read that book.
Speaking of the WHOLE story, Sheikh Jarrah was always owned by Jews, but they were expelled by Jordan in the 1948 war, and Arabs were resettled there. So it’s really the reclamation of property in this case. OTOH, it can be seen as an example of the detrimental effect of inheritance.
In terms of DNA there ain’t a whole lotta difference between the 2. They were both Canaanites fighting amongst themselves, just like the Hatfields and McCoys in the hilly south. They got no reason to fight other than to prove which one is more stupid. Right now the netanyahooo!! fascist Jews have got the stupid crown. Time to grow up little boys.

An excellent commentary on the current, politically motivated, catastrophy in the middle east. Everyone needs a history lesson.

The ethnic cleansing that took place in 1947 was horrific. It continues to this day.

It shouldn’t be surprising that the USA supports Apartheid.

I still can’t wrap my head around why Jews would want to act like Nazis.

Try, just for once, to stop specifically targeting civilians with your rockets and suicide bombers .
