Thank goodness that the younger generation can fix a computer. It creates a close relation with the grandchildren and you get the computer fixed for free.

I’d like to see Nelson fix this problem with my iMac: on the GoComics page, the computer freezes when I’m about to type a comment or am typing midway through a comment, and I have to refresh. I contacted GoComics personnel a few months ago and they said to delete the advertisements on the page. That worked for a while until it happens again once in a while.

There’s a difference between “smart” and “skilled” (and “informed”)

I feel it’s a matter of a flexible approach to a changing technology and the ability to try things out without fear of ‘breaking it’, not being intimidated with being wrong.

Kids seem to take to the digital environment early and many to it very well. However, from what I have seen, the screen becomes more important than the real world view and they don’t handle other elements in their lives as well. Parental guidance in the first 5 years is still the key.

Not only do I know a lot about them, I have built many of my own. I love gadgets, but even I’m being overwhelmed by all the new stuff. Yesterday, I saw a guy with a phone in his ear the size of quarter but thicker. No extended microphone, that was it.

Our 3 year old granddaughter learned how to unlock her Dad’s iPhone by holding it up to his face when he took a nap. It scares me to think what’s coming…

From the world of Microsoft, Bill Gates and CEO Satya Nadella announce an yet new version of its consistently mediocre “flagship” Windows software, Version 11, June 24, 2021. Users running into difficulty with the “most significant overhaul ever” are encouraged to jump out of first story windows. (oops, pun not intended.) This may be worse than publishing Windows 10 for tablets and forcing it into PCs on a cloud.

I do not like learning technology at my age. YouTube can help only so much. I need a real techno nerd to guide me right at my side. Afraid I’ll mess up and won’t know how I messed up nor how to fix the mess up. Computers and cell phones, in many ways, have made my life more frustrating than easy. Plus, call center reps only understand the jargon they’ve been trained in while us great unwashed, can explain our problems in plain English and they stay to their script. Not much help, too often.

Can I borrow him to uninstall Cortana? I had it disabled and never had to deal with it until the last Windows update. Now it starts itself every 20 minutes or so. I removed it from the start up app list, but once my lap top gets warm its zombie ass rises up and offers a log on page. Why Microsoft wants to annoy its customers with it is beyond me.

I need to get my 10 year old grandson to take a look at my computer. It has a few bugs that I’m sure he could find and fix. Or even his 9 year old sister!
