Tell that to the women who can’t find child care or restaurant workers who are expected to live on a minimum wage from 2- 5 dollars an hour

It used to be that a person would start at a lower wage rate and then get advances through doing good work. I guess the idiots on the left all want to start at the top pay tier no matter what. Sorry cupcakes, but it does not work that way. McDonald’s was never a permanent carrier.

    Do the math:

$1,709 – Average total monthly cost for housing for two

$945 – Average total monthly cost for transportation for two

$760 – Average total monthly cost for food for two

$976 – Average total monthly cost for health insurance for two

    $4,390 – Total basic expenses

    $3,840 income – $15 × 40 hr. = $2,400 – $480 (tax) = $1,920 × 2

Averages do not deal with specific individual cherry-picked examples — no need to, the averages reflect the overall s#itty end of the stick American workers are left with (minus $550 per month at $15/hr)

I’m sure cheating to collect unemployment is more common than election fraud, the other right wing obsession. But that would require very few cases of unemployment cheating.

Wow. Varvel does it again, again a day (or more) late and a dollar short in the RW Meme of the Week. Sorry, Gary, Lisa Benson, Steve Kelley and Chip Bok have already beaten this dead horse to death. And, as has been repeatedly pointed out, if you want to get reliable and skilled workers, you need to pay a living wage. Even a $15 minimum is not a living wage today if you have any family or personal responsibilities (at a 50 week/year, 40 hr work/week, that comes in at $30,000).

Minimum wage, no benefits, part-time with no guarantee of minimum hours, must be available for any hours so childcare is impossible. Can’t cover the person’s previous budget needs because most adults have to pay rent / mortgage and own a car.

The majority of jobs not getting filled are also physically demanding. Many people who lost their jobs during the pandemic are 50+ and even if they’re fit, they will have trouble doing a lot of physical and repetitive work.

Montana’s governor was the first to move to block the extra $300 claiming worker shortages. But he conveniently ignores the labor shortages that Montana had in 2019.

‘Does the job pay proper wages? Overtime rates? Super? Have worker’s compensation if I get injured? Is clothing supplied? Do I get sick leave with pay?’ If the answer to any of these questions is no, then you may keep your job. And place it gently where the sun don’t shine.

I wonder if it pays more than my Social security check. People on Disability and Elderly need more of a raise. It’s hard being on a fixed income. Lying Joe promised a raise. Nothing yet.

Gary, I see that you do not like the extended benefits. That’s great. There’s something you can do to end the extended benefits. Use your platform to spread the message that everyone needs to get vaccinated. Once everyone is vaccinated, the pandemic will end, and the need to extended benefits will end.Ending the pandemic depends upon you Gary.

    Meanwhile:

President Joe Biden, when asked by a reporter whether the enhanced unemployment benefits had had any effect on the weak job numbers, said, “No, nothing measurable.”

Just to put this all in context, we’re talking about entry level jobs requiring low or no skills, burger flippers, bussing tables, assembly line work etc. The kind of jobs 16 year olds and up still living with their parents move into. You’re going to pay that 16 year old $15 an hour, some say $20 or $25, one yammer head even mentioned $40. These jobs are not meant for 30 year olds with a family. Here’s a thought that falls right in line with liberal socialist ideology and Planned Parenthood, if you don’t have a job that can support a family, don’t have kids. To be eligible for government unemployment assistance women must get a Norplant implant and men a reversible vasectomy. That will also make the ‘save the world from over population’ crowd happy.

The lie of the cartoon is in the “Good Pay” sign. Studies show that when there’s actual good pay, people jump at the chance to take jobs. It’s just that in order for it to be actually “Good,” you have to be able to live off of it.
