I wonder what it must be like to have NO grasp of nuance. NO idea that it’s possible for someone to hate how SOME cops act without hating “cops” in general. NO idea that a member of a normally good and useful group DESERVES to be called out for failing to make the grade.
And of course the total inability to see that when a LOT of cops commit murder on black people, it actually matters.
How is calling out a bad cop’s behavior “anti-cop rhetoric”? Support the good police, but don’t sweep the bad one’s under the rug, and forget about them. Murder is murder and a jury seen it that way.
Show me the numbers. How does it compare to people who are victims of bad policing? If you’re trying to insinuate that we have to protect evil cops because it might hurt good ones, you’re wrong.
The dialogue is needed. The job of the police is to PROTECT and serve, even those ACCUSED of a crime. Bad cops need to go . . . Preferably to prison.
Something’s severely wrong in Al’s universe, where the actions of bad cops are overlooked because it may reflect poorly on good cops. Good cops who don’t seem so good when they decide not to report and remover bad cops from their ranks, of which there are a few.
Hank Voight makes a good TV character for a show, but makes a bad cop in real life.
Why should the police ever shoot someone in the back? Perhaps if it’s someone with a violent history of mayhem and murder. Not for minor drug offenses.
Like any large organization, there are bound to be some bad characters who need to be removed. Especially when they carry lethal force, and a badge to “justify” it…
Just watch the video of the Loveland, Colorado police -cop throws a 72 year old women with dementia to the ground breaking her arm, dislocating her shoulder; she is then handcuffed and literally thrown in a cell still handcuffed and left for 6 hours without medical attention. And what were the police doing?? Watching the “officers” video cam" of the arrest and laughing when they hear the pop when he breaks her arm. Her offense walking out of a Walmart with $13 worth of groceries she forgot to pay for-Walmart recovered all the groceries as she walked out.
Jeez! CNN reports that 246 officers died on the job in 2020 – a 96% increase from 2019 and the highest since 1974. Of those deaths, 145 were due to Covid-19. Of the remaining, 48 died from fire arms. A decrease from 2019.
The Washington Post reports that 1020 gun deaths caused by police in 2020.
Speaking of anti-cop rhetoric. How about the story of a cop in Los Angeles pulling over a woman for using her cellphone while driving. She went on racist oriented rant about him being Hispanic and will never be White or a legal citizen in her country. The officer remained professional throughout the entire traffic stop caught on camera. Yet Conservative media aka Fox News reported the woman was (wait for it) not racist but another example of anti-cop leftist BLM individuals. Yeah, the footage says differently. https://abc7.com/racist-rant-video-la-deputy-bodycam-footage-san-dimas/10576960/
Police that abuse their power cause other police to lose their lives and respect. Cameras are on, police need to reform themselves, not try to enact laws making it illegal to film police.
Think about it. Some redneck wannabe drives into some people having a picnic nearly killing one. They apprehend the guy, who had a knife. All without Kevlar vests or police training.

So Al thinks that we can’t hold cops accountable when they murder citizens in the street because it’s too dangerous for the cops?!?!?!
Interesting…
…Horrifying, but interesting…

That sickle could be impaled with black bodies.
I guess it’s too much to insist that cops use the power we give them responsibly.

Reading the comments so far it looks like the media is doing a good job demonizing the police. Intelligent readers look past the rhetoric.

Reporting a bad cop by another cop needs to be done anonymously. Report the incident, and leave it to higher ups to investigate.

Uh, working as a cop is no more dangerous than serving as a firefighter, and a lot safer than working as a roofer.

It’s obvious that Mr. Goodwyn has never been involved in a traffic stop by the police for no particular reason.

And how many of those officers were killed by WHITE criminals? Probably far more than killed by criminals of color.
