I think that is why we are trying for aliens. We can’t communicate when we can’t/don’t listen. I/we always know better and more than you, Right? What do “they” say you have 2 ears so you can listen twice as much as you speak.
Reminds me of a science fiction story I read once. Aliens tested earthlings to see if they were ready for contact by seeing if they could establish communication with another earth species. After the first successful communication between a human and a dolphin, the aliens declared them worthy. And contacted the dolphins.
